Korpisalo stopped 19 of 23 shots in Friday's 4-2 loss to the Blue Jackets. Korpisalo took his second straight loss, and he's allowed at least three goals in six of his last seven outings. This was his first game back in Columbus since he was traded to the Kings at last season's trade deadline. The 29-year-old's first year with the Senators has been a mixed bag -- he's at 5-6-0 with a 3.41 GAA and an .897 save percentage through 13 appearances. With Thomas Chabot back from a hand injury, the Senators' defense should improve, which could in turn help Korpisalo get his season on track. Anton Forsberg will likely draw the start Saturday versus the Kraken.... See More ... See Less

Senators' Joonas Korpisalo: Facing Blue Jackets
Korpisalo will defend the road crease in Columbus on Friday, according to TSN 1200 Ottawa. It will be a homecoming for Korpisalo who spent eight seasons with Columbus before he was dealt to LA at the trade deadline last season. He signed as a UFA with Ottawa in the offseason and is 5-5-0 with a 3.34 GAA and .902 save percentage in 2023-24. The Blue Jackets are last in the Metropolitan Division and 29th overall in the NHL standings with a 7-13-4 record. They are in the middle of the pack as far as shots on goal are concerned, averaging 30.5 per game.... See More ... See Less -
Senators' Joonas Korpisalo: Has rough night vs. Florida
Korpisalo stopped 33 of 38 shots in a 5-0 loss to Florida on Monday. It was a bad night for Korpisalo, but in his defense, the first three goals he surrendered were scored on the power play. Florida was given a staggering seven attempts with the man advantage, and Ottawa offered him no offensive support, so clearly this loss isn't solely on the goaltender. All the same, Korpisalo has now allowed at least three goals in five of his last six appearances. He has a 5-5-0 record, 3.34 GAA and .902 save percentage in 12 contests this season.... See More ... Senators' Joonas Korpisalo: Draws start Monday
Korpisalo will be stationed between the pipes for Monday's home tilt with the Panthers, Doug Plagens of the Panthers Radio Network reports. Korpisalo will make his first start since Nov. 16 after missing the last two games with an undisclosed injury. The 29-year-old has picked up a win in three straight appearances, stopping 88 of 96 shots during that span. On the year, he's sporting a 3.17 GAA and a .906 save percentage through 11 outings.... Senators' Joonas Korpisalo: Available to return
Korpisalo (undisclosed) is available to return to the lineup Monday against Florida, Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun reports. The Senators did not name a starter for Monday's contest, but Korpisalo appears to be ready to return from a two-game absence. He has posted a 5-4-0 record this season with a 3.17 GAA and a .906 save percentage in 11 appearances. If Korpisalo doesn't get the nod against the Panthers, Anton Forsberg will start for Ottawa.... Senators' Joonas Korpisalo: Out of action Saturday
Korpisalo will not dress Saturday versus the Wild because of a minor undisclosed injury. The Senators were allowed to take three goaltenders to Sweden for this type of occurrence, so Mads Sogaard will be the backup behind Anton Forsberg on Saturday versus the Wild. Korpisalo turned aside 37 shots Thursday in a 5-4 overtime win over Detroit, improving his record to 5-4-0. Consider him day-to-day at this time. He has plenty of time to recover, as Ottawa will be off until Friday versus the Islanders.... See More ... See Less -
Senators' Joonas Korpisalo: Rides roller coaster for OT win
Korpisalo made 37 saves in Thursday's 5-4 overtime win over the Red Wings. The 29-year-old netminder looked like he might cruise to an easy victory when the Sens took a 4-0 lead a little over a minute into the second period, but the Wings suddenly roared back with four goals in eight minutes to tie things up before the frame was over. However, Korpisalo was able to regain his focus and shut the door the rest of the way. He's won three straight starts to improve his record on the season to 5-4-0, but his 3.17 GAA and .906 save percentage are far more reminiscent of his lackluster final few years in Columbus rather than his impressive run with the Kings after last season's trade deadline.... Senators' Joonas Korpisalo: Set to face Red Wings
Korpisalo will guard the crease against Detroit in Tuesday's Global Series game in Sweden, per TSN 1200 Ottawa. Korpisalo has won his last two starts while saving 51 of 55 shots (.927 save percentage) over that stretch. Through 10 contests this season, he's 4-4-0 with a 3.10 GAA and a .907 save percentage. Detroit is tied for fifth offensively with 3.67 goals per game this year.... See More ... See Less -
Senators' Joonas Korpisalo: Second straight win
Korpisalo made 24 saves in a 4-1 win over Calgary on Saturday. Blake Coleman was the only Flames player to score on Korpisalo. He finished a cross-ice pass into a gaping net on a two-on-one in the second period. Otherwise, Korpisalo was perfect. He has two wins after being pulled in a loss to Tampa Bay last Saturday night, and he's now 4-4-0 with a 3.11 GAA and .907 save percentage. The Sens continue to wobble at times, and so does Korpisalo, but the Ottawa netminder can be considered in the right matchup.... See More ... See Less -
Senators' Joonas Korpisalo: Facing Flames
Korpisalo will patrol the home crease Saturday versus Calgary, TSN 1200 Ottawa reports. Korpisalo is coming off a 27-save performance in a 6-3 win over Toronto on Wednesday. He has a 3-4-0 record this season with a 3.38 GAA and a .902 save percentage over nine games played. The Flames sit 24th in the league this campaign with 2.77 goals per contest.... See More ... Senators' Joonas Korpisalo: Plenty of support in third win
Korpisalo made 27 saves in Wednesday's 6-3 win over the Maple Leafs. The two teams swapped goals until midway through the third period, when Ottawa struck three times in just over three minutes to give Korpisalo some breathing room. The 29-year-old netminder hasn't been able to recapture the form he flashed late last season with the Kings, and he's begun his first campaign with the Senators by posting a 3-4-0 record, 3.38 GAA and .902 save percentage through nine games. Look for Anton Forsberg to be in the crease Thursday against the Canucks.... See More ... See Less -
Senators' Joonas Korpisalo: Tending twine Wednesday
Korpisalo will protect the road goal Wednesday versus the Maple Leafs, per TSN 1200 Ottawa. Korpisalo was pulled from his last start versus the Lightning after allowing three goals on 21 shots. The Senators were able to spare him from the loss, but he's still at 2-4-0 with a 3.43 GAA and a .902 save percentage through eight outings. The Maple Leafs have scored 19 times over their last six games, though they've won just two of those contests.... See More ... See Less -
Senators' Joonas Korpisalo: Pulled to spark team
Korpisalo allowed three goals on 20 shots Saturday before being replaced midway through the second period by Anton Forsberg. The final score was 6-4 for the Lightning. Korpisalo had played well prior to Saturday, and this loss really wasn't on him. He didn't want to leave the game and tossed his stick down the runway. The Sens struggled in the game, so Korpisalo will be in there again soon -- he's holding them up until they figure out how to play in their own zone.... See More ... See Less -
Senators' Joonas Korpisalo: Stands on head in loss
Korpisalo made 35 saves in a 3-2 loss to the Kings on Thursday. It was a tough night for Korpisalo early, not because he was gripping his stick or anything, but because of a collapsing defense in front of him. He has taken some heat from fans early, but it's unfounded. Korpisalo is doing everything he can to keep his team in contests. Over his last three starts, he has faced 119 shots and allowed just eight goals. When the Senators get their game going in the right direction, Korpisalo's strong play should lift a lot of fantasy teams.... See More ... See Less -
Senators' Joonas Korpisalo: Set to face Kings
Korpisalo is expected to start in Thursday's home game versus LA, according to TSN 1200 Ottawa. Korpisalo spent part of the 2022-23 campaign with the Kings, earning a 7-3-1 record, 2.13 GAA and .921 save percentage in 11 starts during that stretch. He's had a comparatively rough time with Ottawa. Through six outings this season, the 29-year-old is 2-3-0 with a 3.22 GAA and a .903 save percentage. The Kings have the league-leading offense with 4.33 goals per game this year.... See More ... See Less -
Senators' Joonas Korpisalo: Dazzles in win
Korpisalo made 39 saves Saturday in a 5-2 victory over Pittsburgh. He allowed a second-period goal to Sidney Crosby on a tip-in. Korpisalo also allowed Jake Guentzel to score in the last minute of play on his 10th shot of the game, but the Ottawa netminder dazzled all night long. Korpisalo came into the contest scuffling with a 1-3-0 record, 3.50 GAA and .886 save percentage, but was an absolute wall for most of the night. This effort is a strong step toward improving those dismal numbers.... See More ... See Less -
Senators' Joonas Korpisalo: Back at it Saturday
Korpisalo will get the road start Saturday against the Penguins, per Seth Rorabaugh of TribLive.com. Korpisalo will make a second straight start after he stopped 35 of 38 shots in a 3-2 loss to the Islanders on Thursday. The 29-year-old netminder has struggled a bit to start his first season with Ottawa, going 1-3-0 with an .886 save percentage through five appearances.... See More ... See Less -
Senators' Joonas Korpisalo: Falls to Islanders
Korpisalo allowed three goals on 38 shots in a 3-2 loss to the Islanders on Thursday. Korpisalo was back between the pipes Thursday after entering in relief of Anton Forsberg on Tuesday against Buffalo. The 29-year-old Korpisalo was solid, holding the Islanders to three goals on 38 shots, but Noah Dobson's tally in the third period was enough to stick Korpi with the one-goal loss. Korpisalo is now 1-3-0 with an .886 save percentage through his first five games as Ottawa's No. 1 netminder. He'll look to get back in the win column in his next start which is likely to come Saturday in Pittsburgh.... See More ... See Less -
Senators' Joonas Korpisalo: Guarding road goal Thursday
Korpisalo is set to start on the road against the Islanders on Thursday, according to TSN 1200 Ottawa. Korpisalo has struggled out of the gate, recording a 1-2-0 record, 3.64 GAA and .872 save percentage through four contests. That's a steep decline compared to his 18-14-4 record, 2.87 GAA and .914 save percentage in 39 games between Columbus and LA last year. The Islanders rank 24th offensively with an average of 2.60 goals per game, so perhaps Korpisalo will fare better against them.... See More ... See Less -
Senators' Joonas Korpisalo: Burned by Wings
Korpisalo made 18 saves on 23 shots in Saturday's 5-2 loss to the Red Wings. There wasn't much Korpisalo could do in this one, as three of Detroit's goals came on the power play and one of the even-strength tallies came after a bad Ottawa turnover in the neutral zone produced an odd-man rush. Korpisalo has a rough .865 save percentage through his first three starts of the season, allowing five goals in two of them, and he could turn the crease back over to Anton Forsberg for Tuesday's game against the Sabres.... Ian Mendes@ian_mendes10D agoA playoff spot is well within reach for the Senators. This season — unlike ones in years past — is not over in late November. But until this team commits to playing a style of hockey that is detail-oriented, they’re destined to be stuck in the middle. https://t.co/PRbCIz8eSu
