  • Devils' Jonas Siegenthaler: Slated to play

Siegenthaler (undisclosed) is expected to play in Tuesday's Game 5 versus the Hurricanes, Mike Morreale of NHL.com reports. Siegenthaler is still not 100 percent after missing time with a long-term lower-body injury, but he appears to be good enough to play. He entered Tuesday as a game-time decision. Siegenthaler warmed up in a second-pairing role and will be tasked with tough defensive minutes.

  • Devils' Jonas Siegenthaler: Game-time call Tuesday

Siegenthaler will be a game-time decision due to an undisclosed injury ahead of Game 5 against the Hurricanes on Tuesday, Sam Kasan of the Devils' official site reports. Siegenthaler is just two games back from a lower-body injury that cost him nearly three months of the season, so it could certainly be related to his recovery from that problem. In those two appearances, the 27-year-old defenseman averaged 23:32 of ice time while generating seven hits, six blocks and one shot. With Brett Pesce (undisclosed) also a game-time call, the Devils could be playing extremely short on the blue line.

  • Devils' Jonas Siegenthaler: Expected to play

Siegenthaler (lower body) has been activated from long-term injured reserve and is expected to play in Friday's Game 3 versus the Hurricanes, Mike Morreale of NHL.com reports. Siegenthaler is projected to suit up on the third pairing after missing 29 games due to the injury. He'll provide a bit of relief for a blue line that has lost Luke Hughes (upper body) and Brenden Dillon (lower body) to injuries already in the first round.

  • Devils' Jonas Siegenthaler: Poised to return Friday

Siegenthaler could suit up against the Hurricanes in Game 3 on Friday after head coach Sheldon Keefe told reporters, "He's feeling good and we're optimistic that he'll play," per Mike Morreale of NHL.com. Keefe did go on to say that Siegenthaler would likely be deployed "in a reduced role with reduced minutes," but all signs point to the Swiss defenseman playing in Game 3. The last step in the process will be for Siegnthaler to be activated off long-term injured reserve prior to puck drop. With Luke Hughes (upper body) and Brenden Dillon (lower body) both out, getting Siegenthaler back will be a huge boost to the Devils' blue line.

  • Devils' Jonas Siegenthaler: Not expected back in Round 1

Siegenthaler (lower body) isn't expected to play in New Jersey's first-round series against Carolina, Amanda Stein of the Devils' official site reported Friday. Siegenthaler missed the final 27 games of the regular season, finishing with two goals, seven assists, 52 shots on net, 92 blocked shots and 75 hits in 55 appearances. Even if the Devils advance to Round 2 of the postseason, it's unclear if the 27-year-old defender will be an option to return to the lineup.

  • Devils' Jonas Siegenthaler: Done for regular season

Siegenthaler (lower body) won't play before the end of the regular season, per James Nichols of New Jersey Hockey Now. Siegenthaler hasn't been in the lineup since Feb. 4 due to the injury. He'll complete 2024-25 with two goals, nine points, 44 PIM, 75 hits and 92 blocks over 55 appearances. It's not clear if there's any hope of Siegenthaler playing in the postseason should the Devils make it that far.

  • Devils' Jonas Siegenthaler: Shifts to LTIR

Siegenthaler (lower body) was moved to long-term injured reserve Tuesday, per PuckPedia. Siegenthaler has already missed seven games due to his lower-body injury and is expected to be sidelined until mid-March at the earliest. Prior to getting hurt, the blueliner was mired in a 15-game pointless streak during which he generated 21 blocks, 16 hits and 15 shots while averaging 18:20 of ice time.

  • Devils' Jonas Siegenthaler: Out for at least 2-3 weeks

Siegenthaler underwent a lower-body procedure during the break for the 4 Nations Face-Off and will be re-evaluated in 2-3 weeks, the Devils announced Tuesday. Siegenthaler has missed the last two games and moved to injured reserve Tuesday. The Devils recalled blueliners Simon Nemec and Seamus Casey in corresponding moves. The 27-year-old Siegenthaler has two goals, nine points, 52 shots on net, 92 blocked shots, 75 hits and 44 PIM through 55 appearances this season.

  • Devils' Jonas Siegenthaler: Shifted to IR

Siegenthaler (undisclosed) was placed on injured reserve Tuesday. Siegenthaler has already missed two games due to his undisclosed injury, so he could technically be activated ahead of Saturday's clash with Dallas. Having said that, it seems unlikely the Devils would have made this move if the 27-year-old blueliner was available to play. As such, fantasy players should probably be expecting Siegenthaler to be out against Dallas and Nashville on Saturday and Sunday, respectively.

  • Devils' Jonas Siegenthaler: Hurt in first period Tuesday

Siegenthaler (undisclosed) was hurt in the first period of Tuesday's game versus the Penguins, Sam Kasan of the Devils' official site reports. Siegenthaler fell awkwardly after receiving a hit and retreated to the locker room. He didn't return at the start of the second or third periods, which suggests he is done for the game despite the lack of an update from the team. The Devils currently aren't rostering an extra defenseman, though Kurtis MacDermid has previously played on the blue line despite being deployed as a forward this year. If Siegenthaler can't play Thursday versus the Golden Knights, the Devils may need to make a roster move.

  • Devils' Jonas Siegenthaler: Breaks slump with assist

Siegenthaler notched an assist and three blocked shots in Friday's 4-2 win over the Hurricanes. Siegenthaler had gone 18 games without a point, racking up 37 blocked shots, 22 PIM and 23 hits in that span. The 27-year-old blueliner has looked good in a shutdown role this season, but that lack of offense keeps him out of the picture for most fantasy managers. Overall, he has eight points, 34 shots on net, 32 PIM, 56 hits, 69 blocked shots and a plus-11 rating over 38 outings.

  • Devils' Jonas Siegenthaler: Offense turns cold

Siegenthaler was held off the scoresheet for the 12th straight game in Tuesday's 2-1 overtime loss to the Maple Leafs. Siegenthaler is a bottom-four fixture on the blue line for the Devils. The 27-year-old had three points over four games from Nov. 7-12, but he's since gone quiet. The defenseman is at seven points, 28 shots on net, 45 hits and 59 blocked shots over 31 appearances this season.

  • Devils' Jonas Siegenthaler: Scores first of season

Siegenthaler scored a goal on three shots, blocked one shot and had two hits in Thursday's 5-3 win over the Canadiens. Siegenthaler snuck in from the blue line to fill an open area in front of the net and beat Sam Montembeault to the glove side for New Jersey's third goal. The strike was the defenseman's first in 16 outings and matched his goal total over 57 games in 2023-24.

  • Devils' Jonas Siegenthaler: Dishes two more assists

Siegenthaler notched two assists, two shots on goal and a plus-2 rating in Sunday's 6-2 win over the Ducks. Siegenthaler has three helpers over his last two games. The 27-year-old blueliner led the Devils with 22:27 of ice time Sunday, though that might have occurred because they were protecting a lead and had few power-play opportunities. Siegenthaler is more of a shutdown defenseman, and he's up to four helpers, 12 shots on net, 23 hits, 18 blocked shots and a plus-4 rating through 12 appearances.

  • Devils' Jonas Siegenthaler: Nabs helper Friday

Siegenthaler logged an assist and two PIM in Friday's 4-3 overtime loss to the Islanders. This was Siegenthaler's first point since the Devils' season opener in Prague. The 27-year-old defenseman doesn't often contribute on offense, and with the Devils' blue line back to full strength, that's likely to remain true. He has two assists, 10 shots on net, 22 hits, 17 blocked shots, six PIM and a plus-2 rating over 11 appearances this season.

  • Devils' Jonas Siegenthaler: Garners assist in opener

Siegenthaler produced an assist, three hits, three blocked shots and a plus-2 rating in Friday's 4-1 win over the Sabres in Prague. Siegenthaler is not known for his offense, but he was able to get on the scoresheet in the season opener. The 27-year-old set up a Johnny Kovacevic tally in the first period. In 2023-24, Siegenthaler was limited to nine points, 97 blocked shots, 87 hits and a minus-7 rating over 57 appearances. With a career-high mark of 21 points from 2022-23, his fantasy value is limited to deeper formats where his lofty block totals are rewarded.

  • Devils' Jonas Siegenthaler: Exits Monday's game

Siegenthaler (upper body) was injured in Monday's 3-1 loss to the Rangers late in the second period, Dan Rosen of NHL.com reports. Siegenthaler didn't return to the contest after taking an elbow to the chin from Matt Rempe of the Rangers. An update on Siegenthaler's status should come before Thursday's matchup versus Dallas. Meanwhile, Rempe will have a hearing with the NHL Department of Player Safety on Tuesday for the hit.

  • Devils' Jonas Siegenthaler: Deals helper in win

Siegenthaler notched an assist and went plus-2 in Tuesday's 7-2 win over the Sharks. The helper was Siegenthaler's first point in five games since he returned from a foot injury. The defenseman has added seven blocked shots while going minus-4 in that span. He's not one to put up much offense, instead offering steady defense most of the time. Siegenthaler has nine points, 48 shots on net, 65 blocked shots, 63 hits and a minus-5 rating through 43 appearances this season.

  • Devils' Jonas Siegenthaler: Available against Caps

Siegenthaler (foot) will be an option versus Washington on Tuesday. Coach Lindy Ruff told reporters, "Available to play, we'll look at getting him back in tomorrow (vs. Washington)," Amanda Stein of the Devils' official site reports. Siegenthaler looks poised to get back into the lineup for the first time since Jan. 6 versus Vancouver, a stretch of 16 games on injured reserve. With just eight points in 38 contests this season, fantasy managers probably shouldn't be banking on the 26-year-old defenseman for offense.

  • Devils' Jonas Siegenthaler: Suffers broken foot

Siegenthaler broke his foot in Saturday's game versus the Canucks, Amanda Stein of the Devils' official site reports. Siegenthaler was injured blocking a shot in the second period. The 26-year-old will reportedly be out for a while, though head coach Lindy Ruff did not offer a specific timeline. The Devils dressed seven defensemen Saturday, but they'll likely need to call-up a reinforcement from AHL Utica prior to Thursday's game against the Lightning.
