Kuraly scored a goal on two shots and added six PIM in Sunday's 4-3 shootout loss to the Rangers. Kuraly put the Blue Jackets ahead 3-2 in the second period, but Elvis Merzlikins let the one-goal lead slip away in the last minute. Kuraly was also responsible for the hit that knocked Ryan Lindgren (upper body) out of the game. That hit was initially called a major for boarding, but was downgraded to a minor penalty on review. It's not yet known if Kuraly will face supplemental discipline. The 30-year-old forward is up to five goals, 22 shots on net, 30 hits, 16 PIM and a minus-1 rating through 15 outings in a fourth-line role.... See More ... See Less

Blue Jackets' Sean Kuraly: Scores goal versus Florida
Kuraly netted a goal in a 5-4 overtime loss to Florida on Monday. Kuraly is up to three goals and points in 12 contests this season. What's interesting is he logged a season-high 16:00 of ice time, which is well above his 2023-24 average of 12:51 coming into Monday's contest. Kuraly is unlikely to be a significant offensive threat even with that increased role, but it would give him more opportunities to rack up more hits. After finishing 2022-23 with 187 hits in 71 outings, he has 24 this season.... See More ... See Less -
Blue Jackets' Sean Kuraly: Nets second goal of season
Kuraly posted a goal in Monday's 5-3 road loss against the Stars. The 30-year-old pivot also posted four shots on goal with three hits and a minor penalty in his 13:11 of ice time. Kuraly had a dismal night at the faceoff dot, however, winning just three of his 11 opportunities. He has struck for two goals with no assists in nine games, though he's added 19 hits, so his fantasy value is limited to the deepest of formats.... See More ... See Less -
Blue Jackets' Sean Kuraly: Lights lamp for first time
Kuraly opened the scoring with his first goal of the season in Friday's 3-1 win against the Flames. Kuraly also chipped in with a plus-2 rating, two shots on goal, a minor penalty and two hits in his 11:05 of ice time. The pivot did a great job at the faceoff dot, too, winning eight of 11 (72.7 percent) chances. The third-line forward will look to keep up the good work in Minnesota on Saturday.... See More ... Blue Jackets' Sean Kuraly: Forces overtime Tuesday
Kuraly scored a power-play goal in Tuesday's 4-3 overtime loss to the Flyers. Kuraly tied the game 3-3 in the third period, deflecting a Jake Christiansen shot past Carter Hart on the power play. The goal was Kuraly's first since Feb. 11 and just his third point in his last 15 games. The 30-year-old center is up to 11 goals and 19 points through 69 games this season. Kuraly continues to provide a physical presence with 182 hits, as well.... See More ... See Less -
Blue Jackets' Sean Kuraly: Cleared to play
Kuraly (oblique) has been cleared to return to action Friday versus the Islanders, Jeff Svoboda of the Blue Jackets' official site reports. This news comes as a surprise, as Kuraly was originally given a six-week recovery timetable less than three weeks ago. The 30-year-old forward is expected to return to a fourth-line role against the Isles.... See More ... See Less -
Blue Jackets' Sean Kuraly: Out six weeks
Kuraly suffered an oblique injury in practice Thursday and will miss the next six weeks. The injury should keep Kuraly out of the lineup for the rest of the year, as the timeline coincides with the end of the season. Kuraly has 10 goals, seven assists, 66 PIM and 156 hits in 59 games this season.... See More ... See Less -
Blue Jackets' Sean Kuraly: Pots 10th goal of season
Kuraly scored a goal on three shots on net and added seven hits, two PIM and a plus-1 rating in Saturday's 4-3 win over the Maple Leafs. His tally late in the second period gave the Blue Jackets their first lead after they had fallen behind 2-0 in the first. Kuraly remains a checking-line stalwart for Columbus and has racked up 136 hits and 50 PIM on the season, but the 30-year-old doesn't supply much offense. He has only three points, all goals, over 18 games since the beginning of January, giving him 10 goals and 14 points through 51 contests.... See More ... See Less -
Blue Jackets' Sean Kuraly: Scores in defeat
Kuraly scored a goal on two shots in Thursday's 6-2 loss to the Hurricanes. Kuraly cut the Jackets' deficit to 2-1 with a tally in the first period, his first goal since Dec. 9. The 29-year-old center hasn't done much offensively this year in Columbus (eight goals and four assists in 39 games) but he's provided some physicality in a bottom-six role, dishing 102 hits.... Blue Jackets' Sean Kuraly: Slated to play Friday
Kuraly (undisclosed) is set to play Friday against Calgary, per Blue Jackets team reporter Jeff Svoboda. Kuraly was a game-time decision, but he's now projected to play on the fourth line with Eric Robinson and Mathieu Olivier. Kuraly has six goals and nine points in 23 games this season.... Blue Jackets' Sean Kuraly: Game-time call
Kuraly (undisclosed) will be a game-time decision for Friday's matchup with the Flames, Blue Jackets team reporter Jeff Svoboda reports. Kuraly's status against Calgary likely won't be determined until the Blue Jackets take the ice for pregame warmups. If Kuraly's unable to go, look for Liam Foudy or Carson Meyer to enter the lineup versus the Flames.... See More ... See Less -
Blue Jackets' Sean Kuraly: Scores sixth goal of 2022-23
Kuraly netted a goal in Columbus' 5-3 win against Florida on Sunday. Kuraly has contributed at least one goal in four of his last six contests. He's up to six goals and nine points in 16 games this season. What makes his recent hot streak even more encouraging is that it's corresponded with an increase in playing time. Kuraly averaged just 12:36 of ice time over his first 12 games, but that jumped to 16:01 in three contests from Nov. 15-19. He then logged 19:37 on Sunday, which is a new season high for him. The 29-year-old forward hasn't recorded more than 30 points in a single season, so it's best to temper expectations, but his recent jump in ice time certainly makes things interesting.... Blue Jackets' Sean Kuraly: Stays hot Thursday
Kuraly contributed two goals and an assist in the Blue Jackets' 6-4 win over Montreal on Thursday. Kuraly has been on a roll lately, recording four goals and five points over his last four contests. That's pushed him up to five goals and eight points in 14 games this season. He averaged just 12:36 of ice time in his first 12 contests this season, but he logged 16:20 on Tuesday and 16:20 again Thursday. He's responded well to the increased role, so the Blue Jackets might continue to give him those kind of responsibilities and see how long he can keep this up.... See More ... See Less -
Blue Jackets' Sean Kuraly: Scores in return
Kuraly (upper body) scored a goal in Columbus' 5-4 overtime win over Philadelphia on Tuesday. Kuraly was held out of the Blue Jackets' previous two games because of the injury. In addition to his goal, he also had a plus-2 rating, two PIM, four hits and three blocks in 16:20 of ice time in his return. He has three goals and five points in 13 contests this season. That's roughly in line with his 2021-22 per-game pace, so it wouldn't be surprising to see him continue to contribute at this rate.... See More ... See Less -
Blue Jackets' Sean Kuraly: Will return Tuesday
Kuraly (upper body) will play Tuesday against Philadelphia, Aaron Portzline of The Athletic reports. Kuraly last played on Nov. 5 because of the injury. Now that he's healthy, he'll likely serve in a bottom-six role. He has two goals and four points in 12 games this season.... See More ... See Less -
Blue Jackets' Sean Kuraly: Placed on injured reserve
Kuraly (upper body) was placed on injured reserve, retroactive to Nov. 5. Kuraly sat out Thursday's game against Philadelphia after he was injured in Finland on the weekend. Kuraly has two goals and four points in 12 games.... See More ... See Less -
Blue Jackets' Sean Kuraly: Ruled out Thursday
Kuraly (upper body) will not be in the lineup against the Flyers on Thursday, Blue Jackets team reporter Jeff Svoboda reports. Kuraly will miss his first game of the season after getting injured against Colorado over in Finland. With both Kuraly and Kent Johnson (undisclosed) unavailable, the duo of Emil Bemstrom and Brendan Gaunce will get into Thursday's contest, marking the season debut for both forwards.... See More ... Blue Jackets' Sean Kuraly: Day-to-day with upper-body injury
Kuraly is day-to-day with an upper-body injury, Aaron Portzline of The Athletic reported Tuesday. Kuraly was elbowed in the head during Saturday's 5-1 loss to Colorado. He didn't play at all in the third period after that incident. He has two goals and four points in 12 contests while averaging 12:36 of ice time this season.... See More ... See Less -
Blue Jackets' Sean Kuraly: Getting checked out Tuesday
Kuraly (undisclosed) will be re-evaluated Tuesday after taking an elbow to the head in Saturday's loss to the Avalanche, Aaron Portzline of The Athletic reports. The checking center ended up sitting out the third period of the loss, and the lengthy delay in getting checked out likely has something to do with the Blue Jackets wanting to wait until the they got back home from their trip to Finland. The team should have a better idea of Kuraly's availability for Thursday's game against the Flyers, and a meeting with former coach John Tortorella, after practice Tuesday.... See More ... See Less -
Blue Jackets' Sean Kuraly: Nets second marker
Kuraly scored a goal during a 6-3 loss to the Avalanche on Friday in Finland. Kuraly, who snapped an eight-game goal drought with a shot from the slot Friday, pulled the come-from-behind Blue Jackets into a 3-3 tie at 2:32 of the third period. The Global Series drama unfolded with the Avalanche scoring three unanswered goals. The 29-year-old center scored on his lone shot during 12:43 of ice time.... See More ... See Less
