Sabres' Alex Tuch: Update coming Monday
Head coach Don Granato expects to have an update Monday on Tuch (undisclosed), who exited Sunday's 2-1 loss to Nashville, Bill Hoppe of the Olean Times Herald reports. Tuch logged four shots on goal with a minus-1 rating in 16:19 of ice time during Sunday's loss to Nashville. The 27-year-old left in the third period but may still be going through testing. Tuch has seven points in nine games since returning from an upper-body injury. Buffalo's next game is Tuesday against Detroit.... See More ... See Less -
Sabres' Alex Tuch: Tallies two goals in victory
Tuch netted two goals in a 5-1 win over the Rangers on Monday. Tuch's first goal, which came late in the second period, put the Sabres up 2-0 and proved to be the game-winner. He's on a three-game scoring streak with three goals and five points over that span. Through 19 outings this campaign, Tuch has eight goals and 16 points. That's somewhat off from his 79-point showing in 2022-23, but Tuch also recorded just 88 points in 147 appearances from 2019-20 through 2021-22, so it's not unreasonable that he's seen some decline compared to last year's highs.... Sabres' Alex Tuch: Registers two-point night
Tuch notched one goal and one assist in Friday's 3-2 win against the Penguins. Tuch had the primary assist on Jeff Skinner's power-play goal at 5:13 of the third period, cutting the lead to 2-1. Tuch broke a 2-2- tie at the 17:16 mark of the third, and it held up as the game-winner. He has provided five goals, including two game-winners, in his past six outings.... See More ... See Less -
Sabres' Alex Tuch: Nets goal in return
Tuch scored a goal on two shots in Friday's 3-2 loss to the Jets. Tuch returned from a three-game absence with an upper-body injury and led all Sabres forwards with 20:29 of ice time. The 27-year-old has scored four times over his last three games, and he'll be asked to carry more of the scoring load with Tage Thompson (upper body) on injured reserve with a week-to-week status. Tuch is up to 11 points, 33 shots on net, 15 blocked shots, 20 PIM and a minus-3 rating through 14 appearances. He should be a fixture on the top line going forward.... See More ... See Less -
Sabres' Alex Tuch: Good to go Friday
Tuch (upper body) believes he will be ready to play Friday in Winnipeg, Lance Lysowski of The Buffalo News reports. Tuch has missed the last three games with an upper-body issue. Overall, Tuch has four goals and 10 points in 13 games this year.... See More ... See Less -
Sabres' Alex Tuch: Won't play Tuesday
Tuch (upper body) won't play Tuesday against Boston, Lance Lysowski of The Buffalo News reports. Tuch will miss his third straight contest, but he is close to returning to action. "I would say Friday is a very good target for him," said coach Don Granato on Monday. "He was close today, which is why I'd say that." Dylan Cozens is projected to replace Tuch alongside Tage Thompson and Jeff Skinner for Tuesday's contest. The 27-year-old Tuch has generated four goals, 10 points, 31 shots on goal and seven hits in 13 games this season.... See More ... See Less -
Sabres' Alex Tuch: Not playing Saturday
Tuch (upper body) won't play Saturday versus Pittsburgh, according to Lance Lysowski of The Buffalo News. Tuch also sat out Friday's 3-2 win over Minnesota. He has accounted for four goals, 10 points, 31 shots on net and 15 blocked shots in 13 games this season. Coach Don Granato said the Sabres will likely dress seven blueliners in Saturday's contest because Mattias Samuelsson (lower body) is ready to return.... See More ... See Less -
Sabres' Alex Tuch: Unavailable Friday
Tuch (upper body) is not expected to play Friday against the Wild, Bill Hoppe of the Olean Times Herald reports. Tuch was considered a game-time call so he likely isn't dealing with anything serious, but he will miss his first game of the year. The 27-year-old winger has nine points in his last seven games after tallying just one in his first six contests. Matthew Savoie will make his NHL debut in Tuch's absence.... See More ... See Less -

Sabres' Alex Tuch: Buy-cold window officially closed
Tuch scored twice in Saturday's 6-4 win over Toronto. Tuch's first was a fluke -- Rasmus Dahlin's point shot hit Tuch and deflected into the net behind Joseph Woll. His second went into an empty net. The 27-year-old had just one marker in 11 games prior to Saturday, so this was a nice bump for the 36-goal man (2022-23). He now has nine points in 12 contests, and eight of those have come in his last six games. Your buy-cold window on Tuch is officially closed.... See More ... See Less -

Tuch notched an assist and three shots on goal in Friday's 5-4 loss to the Devils. Tuch set up a Tage Thompson tally in the first period. With three points over his last two contests, Tuch may finally be getting his offense up to speed after a sluggish start. The winger has four points, 16 shots on net, seven blocked shots, 18 PIM and a minus-3 rating through eight outings overall, but he's maintained a top-six role amid the struggles.... See More ... Sabres' Alex Tuch: Picks up helper in win
Tuch registered an assist in Tuesday's 3-2 victory over the Lightning. Tuch finally wrote his name on the scoresheet after going pointless in the opening two contests, though he is still looking for his first goal of the campaign. Through the first three games of the year, Tuch is averaging 2:32 of ice time with the man advantage but has managed just five shots on goal. Tuch is coming off a career year in which he set new personal bets in goals (36), assists (43) and power-play points (20).... See More ... See Less -
Sabres' Alex Tuch: Supplies winning goal in finale
Tuch netted the game-winning goal in Buffalo's 5-2 win over Columbus on Friday. That extended Tuch's scoring streak to six games, during which he contributed a goal and seven points. He's finished the season with career highs in goals (36) and points (79) over 74 contests. That's a ton of production to get out of Tuch relative to his seven-year, $33.25 million contract ($4.75 million cap hit), which won't expire until the summer of 2026.... See More ... See Less -
Sabres' Alex Tuch: Second career hat trick
Tuch scored a hat trick Saturday in a 6-3 win over the Flyers. His first put the Sabres up 2-1 early in the second. Tuch wired a shot from the slot that beat Felix Sandstrom. He went blocker side from the top of the right circle for his second late in the second frame. And Tuch finished the scoring and nailed down his second NHL hat trick with a shorthanded snipe late in the third period. His first hattie came in October against the Flames. Tuch now has 35 goals and 72 points in 67 games.... See More ... See Less -
Sabres' Alex Tuch: Three-point eruption Friday
Tuch scored two goals, one the game-winner on the power play, and added an even-strength assist in Friday's 5-4 victory over the Devils. Both tallies came in the second period as the Sabres raced out to a 5-2 lead they nearly coughed up in the third. It's Tuch's second two-goal performance in six games since returning from a lower-body injury, and on the season the 26-year-old has already established new career highs with 32 goals -- eight of them game-winners -- and 68 points, including eight goals and 17 points with the man advantage.... Sabres' Alex Tuch: Scores twice in return
Tuch scored a pair of goals in Monday's 4-3 win over the Maple Leafs. Tuch tied the game 2-2 with his tally early in the third period. He'd add a second goal on a power play later in the frame, his 30th of the season and the eventual game-winner. It was quite a return for Tuch, who had missed Buffalo's previous eight games with a lower-body injury. The 26-year-old winger is up to 64 points this season, a career high, with 30 goals and 34 assists through 58 games.... See More ... See Less -

Mike Harrington@ByMHarrington7H agoThere’s been far too much talk about McDermott and Granato “losing the team” and “losing the locker room” in recent days. Neither team might be as good as we hoped, but recent days make it clear both are still engaged with their coach and that stuff should stop. #Bills #Sabres

STL 8.8% (7-80) WSH 8.6% (6-70) It's a mental grind, even for experienced teams/players when it's not working. Gotta keep at it.
