Byfield is heating up again, racking up five goals and nine points over his last seven games, and the second overall pick in the 2020 Draft is just scratching the surface of his upside in a breakout campaign.

    Byfield scored twice and had an assist in a 4-0 victory over Montreal on Thursday night. Byfield made it 2-0 when he powered past Canadiens defender Kaiden Guhle and drove the net before tucking the puck around Sam Montembeault late in the first period. Byfield then tapped in a rebound on the power play late in the second to make it 3-0. He is in the middle of a breakout season. Byfield's eight goals in 23 games this season equal his total in his 99 previous games. And he has 21 points on the season. Byfield is a natural fit as one of the Kings' three wise men, albeit on the wing instead of his natural center. We'll take it -- his offensive output will be great on the flank right now.

    Byfield had three assists in a 5-0 win over the Flyers on Saturday. Byfield is the first Kings player 21 or younger to put up three assists in a game since Drew Doughty did it on Dec. 13, 2010. Byfield had one point in his first five games this season, but he's turned up the heat with one goal and eight helpers in his past six outings. He's on a three-game, six-point scoring streak, too. Many have knocked Byfield for failing to live up to his draft stock, but he's only 21 and his move to the wing on the top line seems to be a great fit. He'll help you.

Byfield set up a Mikey Anderson goal in the first period and then scored one of his own in the third. This was Byfield's first multi-point game of the season, doubling his total to two goals and four points over seven appearances. He saw a season-low 12:18 of ice time Friday, but that was likely a product of the Kings leaning on their stars to pull off a comeback win. Byfield has added 11 shots on net and a plus-4 rating in a top-line role at even strength, and he's doing enough to warrant consideration in deeper fantasy formats.
