Ersson was coming off a subpar display in a 4-1 loss to Dallas on Thursday, but he bounced back admirably to record his second shutout over his last three appearances. He needed only 15 saves to shut out the Sharks on Dec. 31 in a 4-0 win. Ersson has gone 10-7-2 with a 2.86 GAA and an .888 save percentage across 21 appearances this season.

Flyers' Samuel Ersson: Hung out to dry Thursday
Ersson turned aside 19 of 22 shots in Thursday's 4-1 loss to the Stars, with Dallas' final tally getting scored into an empty net.
Making his return from a lower-body injury that had sidelined Ersson for the prior three games, the 25-year-old goalie was left to fend for himself by the Philly defense -- two of Dallas' tallies came on deflections from players parked right outside his crease, while the third was scored on a 3-on-1 rush in the second period. Ersson has looked good since Christmas despite the struggles of the team in front of him, allowing four goals on 70 shots (.943 save percentage) over his last three outings, but he'd stumbled to a 4.26 GAA and .810 save percentage in the six appearances before that. Ersson is still holding on to the No. 1 job in the Flyers' crease over Aleksei Kolosov and Ivan Fedotov, but his grip isn't a firm one.

Ersson took advantage of a favorable matchup Saturday and notched his third win over his last seven appearances since returning from a lower-body injury on Dec. 8. Record aside, this was one of Ersson's best outings of the entire season, and it marked the first time since Nov. 11 -- and the first time since returning from the aforementioned injury -- that he was able to record a save percentage above the .910 mark.

The Flyers rallied from three deficits in the third period, and then Owen Tippett completed the comeback at 3:30 of overtime. This was Ersson's second win in five starts since he came back from a lower-body injury. The 25-year-old has allowed 19 goals in that span despite facing no more than 25 shots in any of those games. Ersson is up to 7-5-2 with a 3.09 GAA and an .881 save percentage through 16 appearances. He's still atop the depth chart in goal, though his poor recent performance should allow Aleksei Kolosov to see a decent share of playing time in the backup role. Ivan Fedotov also remains on the NHL roster, making the Flyers' crease crowded, and one to avoid in fantasy.
