  • Rangers' Igor Shesterkin: Grabs win Wednesday

Shesterkin stopped 29 of 31 shots in Wednesday's 3-2 win over the Sabres.

Shesterkin was working with thin margins for most of the game, but he was able to get the job done. The Sabres' two goals came over the last five minutes. Shesterkin has just two wins over his last eight outings, but he's allowed exactly two goals in four of his last five starts. He's now at a 10-10-1 record with a 2.90 GAA and a .911 save percentage through 21 starts. The Rangers are back in action at home Saturday against the Kings before heading to St. Louis on Sunday for the second half of a back-to-back set.

  • Rangers' Igor Shesterkin: First goalie off

Shesterkin was the first goalie off during Wednesday's morning skate, Mollie Walker of the New York Post reports, indicating he'll draw the start on the road against Buffalo.

Shesterkin is in the midst of a skid in which he's gone 1-5-0 with a 3.23 GAA and .900 save percentage over his last six starts. However, he's still seen plenty of playing time, as Wednesday's start will be his seventh over the Rangers' last nine games.

  • Rangers' Igor Shesterkin: Gets little help in loss

Shesterkin made 30 saves in Monday's 2-1 loss to Chicago.

The netminder bailed out the Rangers' struggling defense more than once, but on the game-winner in the second period, Shesterkin inadvertently deflected the puck into his own net after it slipped off Taylor Hall's stick on a 2-on-1 rush. Shesterkin's 2.95 GAA and .910 save percentage on the season aren't up to his usual standards, but with his focus firmly back on the ice after his wife gave birth Sunday and he signed an eight-year contract extension Saturday, a hot streak could be on its way.

  • Rangers' Igor Shesterkin: Facing Chicago

Shesterkin (personal) will patrol the home crease against the Blackhawks on Monday, Peter Baugh of The Athletic reports.

Shesterkin missed Sunday's 7-5 loss to Seattle to be with his wife for the birth of their child. The 28-year-old Shesterkin has a 9-9-1 record with one shutout, a 2.99 GAA and a .908 save percentage through 19 appearances this season. Chicago sits 31st in the league with 2.41 goals per game in 2024-25.

  • Rangers' Igor Shesterkin: Set to miss Sunday's game

Shesterkin (personal) isn't expected to be in the lineup for Sunday's home matchup against Seattle because his wife has gone into labor, Mollie Walker of the New York Post reports.

With Shesterkin and his wife expecting the birth of their child, the Rangers recalled Dylan Garand from AHL Hartford on Sunday. Garand will probably occupy the backup role behind Jonathan Quick versus the Kraken.

  • Rangers' Igor Shesterkin: Snaps losing streak Friday

Shesterkin stopped 20 of 22 shots in Friday's 4-2 win over the Penguins.

Shesterkin struggled mightily with a 2-7-0 record, 3.93 GAA and .882 save percentage across nine appearances from Nov. 7-Dec. 2. While we'll never know if there was a direct relation between his contract talks and that slump, he looked good in his first start after signing an eight-year, $92 million contract extension with the Rangers. The 28-year-old will need a few more performances to confirm the slump is in the rearview, but this was certainly a step in the right direction. He's 9-9-1 with a 2.99 GAA and a .908 save percentage in 19 outings overall.

  • Rangers' Igor Shesterkin: Gets massive contract extension

Shesterkin signed an eight-year, $92 million contract extension with the Rangers on Friday, per Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet.

Shesterkin will complete the final season of his four-year, $22.67 million contract before his new deal will start in 2025-26. The 28-year-old won the Vezina Trophy in 2021-22, posting a 36-13-4 record, 2.07 GAA and .935 save percentage across 53 regular-season appearances. Although he fell short of being a Vezina Trophy finalist in 2022-23 or 2023-24, he was still among the league's top goaltenders in each of those campaigns. Shesterkin has been a mixed bag in 2024-25, starting the campaign with a 6-2-1 record, 2.22 GAA and .933 save percentage over his opening nine outings but following that with a 2-7-0 record, 3.93 GAA and .882 save percentage across his last nine appearances. Getting these contract negotiations behind him might help break Shesterkin out of his recent funk.

  • Rangers' Igor Shesterkin: Tending twine Friday

Shesterkin will serve as the starting goaltender for Friday's home game against the Penguins, Mollie Walker of the New York Post reports.

Shesterkin is riding a five-game losing streak, and he's posted a 3.69 GAA and .903 save percentage during that time. However, he's continued to see plenty of playing time, as he'll be between the pipes for the fifth time in the Rangers' last six games.

  • Rangers' Igor Shesterkin: Gets little help again

Shesterkin stopped 23 shots in Monday's 5-1 loss to the Devils.

The Rangers are in a deep funk right now, losing six of their last seven games, and Shesterkin hasn't been able to steal any wins to help turn the ship around. Turnovers and defensive breakdowns led to the Devils' two first-period tallies, while all three of New Jersey's second-period goals came on power plays. Shesterkin has dropped five straight decisions, and since the beginning of November, he's gone 4-7-0 in 11 starts with an uncharacteristic 3.46 GAA and .899 save percentage.

  • Rangers' Igor Shesterkin: Set to face Devils

Shesterkin will patrol the home crease against New Jersey on Monday, Vince Z. Mercogliano of USA Today reports.

Shesterkin has stopped 144 of 157 shots during his four-game losing skid. He has posted a record of 8-8-1 with one shutout, a 2.93 GAA and a .913 save percentage through 17 appearances this campaign. Shesterkin went 3-0-0 versus the Devils last season, allowing only seven goals on 93 shots. New Jersey sits eighth in the league with 3.48 goals per game in 2024-25.

  • Rangers' Igor Shesterkin: Loses despite making 32 saves

Shesterkin stopped 32 of 34 shots in a 3-1 loss to the Flyers on Friday. The final goal was scored on an empty net.

Shesterkin got into trouble early, surrendering two goals in the first 4:24 minutes of the game. He was perfect after that, but the Rangers were unable to recover from the early deficit. Shesterkin has now lost each of his past four starts, dropping to 8-8-1 in 2024-25. On the bright side, he ended his run of four straight outings in which he allowed three or more goals, so perhaps he's turning a corner, despite the outcome Friday not being in his favor.

  • Rangers' Igor Shesterkin: Facing Flyers

Shesterkin will patrol the visiting crease in Philadelphia on Friday, Vince Z. Mercogliano of USA Today reports.

Shesterkin has lost his last three starts amid a flurry of shots on goal, allowing 11 goals on 122 shots as the Rangers are currently in a big slump. Shesterkin is 8-7-1 with a 2.98 GAA and a .911 save percentage in 16 appearances this season. The Flyers are averaging 2.78 goals per game and 27.3 shots per game this season.

  • Rangers' Igor Shesterkin: Stuck in short losing streak

Shesterkin made 26 saves in a 4-3 loss to the Hurricanes on Wednesday.

Shesterkin has allowed at least three goals in each of his past four starts, a span in which he went 1-3-0. It's important to note that in two of those games, Shesterkin faced 43 or more shots. The Rangers are struggling through a four-game losing streak, three of which have been hung on Shesty. Prior to the losing streak, the Rangers had not lost consecutive games all season. He's one of the NHL's best netminders, so this is nothing more than a blip.

  • Rangers' Igor Shesterkin: Guarding road goal

Shesterkin is expected to start on the road against Carolina on Wednesday, per Mollie Walker of the New York Post.

Shesterkin has struggled recently, allowing at least three goals in each of his past three starts and five of his last six appearances. That's caused his season GAA to rise to 2.91, though he still has a respectable .914 save percentage to go along with his 8-6-1 record across 15 outings. The Hurricanes rank third offensively with 4.00 goals per game, so they'll be a tough assignment for the cold netminder.

  • Rangers' Igor Shesterkin: Stops 38 shots in loss Monday

Shesterkin stopped 38 of 42 shots in Monday's 5-2 loss to the Blues. The fifth goal was an empty-netter with 2:45 left in the third period.

The 28-year-old star goaltender did everything in his power to avoid the defeat at home Monday, but the Blues scored two goals in the opening 10 minutes of the third period to pull away for good. Although Shesterkin has lost his past two starts while navigating amid an uneven stretch in November, fantasy managers shouldn't be worried about what he can bring to the table. Shesterkin has gone 4-4-0 with a 3.35 GAA and a .905 save percentage in eight outings this month.

  • Rangers' Igor Shesterkin: Under siege early in loss

Shesterkin stopped 46 of 49 shots in Thursday's 3-2 loss to the Flames.

Shesterkin faced a ton of pressure over the first half of the game. The Rangers were able to dig out of a 2-0 hole, but Connor Zary's third-period tally tipped the scales in favor of the Flames. The 46 saves were a season high for Shesterkin, who is now 1-2-0 with eight goals allowed over three games in which he's seen 40 or more shots. Overall, the 28-year-old is 8-5-1 with a 2.82 GAA and a .914 save percentage through 14 starts. The Rangers wrap up their current road trip in Edmonton on Saturday.

  • Rangers' Igor Shesterkin: First goalie off Thursday

Shesterkin was the first goalie to exit the ice Thursday, Peter Baugh of The Athletic reports, indicating he'll tend the twine on the road versus Calgary.

Shesterkin hasn't exactly been in stellar form of late, going 2-2-0 in his last four outings, including a pair of contests in which he gave up five goals apiece. Still, the 28-year-old backstop is the unquestioned No. 1 option in the Big Apple. Having said that, the fact that veteran Jonathan Quick is riding back-to-back shutouts could see him steal a few starts away from Shesterkin.

  • Rangers' Igor Shesterkin: Allows three goals in win

Shesterkin allowed three goals on 24 shots in Tuesday's 4-3 win over the Canucks.

Shesterkin gave up two goals in the first period and another in the second, but he shut the door in the third to get his fourth win in his last six outings. It wasn't a particularly strong start -- Shesterkin has given up three or more goals in four of his last seven appearances. He's now 8-4-1 with a 2.80 GAA and a .911 save percentage through 13 starts this season. Shesterkin's uneven performances could allow for a slightly larger workload for Jonathan Quick in the near term.
