  • Islanders' Maxim Tsyplakov: Strikes on power play in loss

Tsyplakov scored a power-play goal on four shots and added three hits in Thursday's 9-2 loss to the Rangers. Tsyplakov has two goals and three assists over his last seven contests. This was his first power-play point since Nov. 23, though the Islanders' struggles with the man advantage have played a significant role in that. For the season, the winger has 10 goals, 35 points, 111 shots on net, 138 hits, 37 PIM and a plus-7 rating over 73 appearances.

  • Islanders' Maxim Tsyplakov: Goal, assist in Nashville

Tsyplakov registered a goal on two shots, an assist, three blocks and a plus-3 rating in Tuesday's 7-6 overtime loss to the Predators. Tsyplakov assisted on Simon Holmstrom's 20th goal of the campaign early in the middle frame, and the latter would return the favor shortly thereafter. This was Tsyplakov's first goal since March 16 -- he managed just four helpers over the 10 games between markers. The Russian winger is at nine goals, 34 points and a plus-8 rating through 72 appearances in 2024-25. Tsyplakov will more than likely fall shy of the 40-point mark but has transitioned fairly well to North American ice in his first NHL season after previously playing in the KHL.

  • Islanders' Maxim Tsyplakov: Collects two apples Saturday

Tsyplakov generated a pair of even-strength assists and went plus-2 in Saturday's 4-3 overtime loss to the Flames. Tsyplakov logged the primary assist on goals by Marc Gatcomb and Kyle MacLean in this defeat. Tsyplakov's last multi-point effort prior to Saturday was in a 6-3 loss to Minnesota on Feb. 8. The Russian winger has supplied eight goals and 30 points through 64 appearances in his first NHL season. Tsyplakov could challenge for the 40-point mark if he's able to pick up the pace over the last few weeks of the campaign.

  • Islanders' Maxim Tsyplakov: Puts away goal in win

Tsyplakov scored a goal in Sunday's 4-2 win over the Panthers. Tsyplakov hadn't scored since Dec. 21 versus the Maple Leafs. That was a span of 26 games without a goal, during which he had eight assists, 35 shots on net, 34 hits and a minus-8 rating while watching his ice time plummet following a move to the fourth line since the 4 Nations Face-Off break. The 26-year-old winger was also suspended for three games and scratched twice during the slump. Tsyplakov is now at eight goals, 28 points, 84 shots on net, 121 hits, 33 PIM and a plus-5 rating over 61 appearances in his first NHL campaign.

  • Islanders' Maxim Tsyplakov: Notches helper Sunday

Tsyplakov recorded an assist in Sunday's 4-1 loss to the Ducks. Tsyplakov set up a Tony DeAngelo tally in the third period to prevent the Islanders from getting shut out. This was Tsyplakov's second assist in his last three games, as it appears he's responded well following a healthy scratch March 1 versus the Predators. The 26-year-old winger is now at 27 points, 81 shots on net, 119 hits and a plus-6 rating through 58 appearances this season. He's in a third-line role for now, and that's likely where he'll stay to close out the campaign given the veteran talent in the Islanders' top six.

  • Islanders' Maxim Tsyplakov: Registers assist in win

Tsyplakov notched an assist in Tuesday's 3-2 win over the Jets. Tsyplakov ended a four-game slump with the helper. He was scratched once in that span as well as minutes get more competitive in the Islanders' lineup. Tsyplakov played at a 0.5 point-per-game pace through the end of December, but he has just seven helpers, 22 shots on net and 29 hits over his last 18 outings. The 26-year-old may simply be wearing down from the rigors of an NHL campaign -- he played a total of 76 contests with Spartak Moscow of the KHL in 2023-24 between the regular season and playoffs. He's already up to 56 appearances, earning 26 points, 77 shots, 118 hits and a plus-7 rating, in his first NHL season.

  • Islanders' Maxim Tsyplakov: Pockets helper Thursday

Tsyplakov registered an assist and five PIM in Thursday's 3-0 win over the Flyers. Tsyplakov had to answer the bell for his hit to the head of Ryan Poehling when these two teams previously met Jan. 16. He took care of it by fighting Scott Laughton at 4:51 of the first period, and that was the end of the aggression. Tsyplakov would add his helper as the Islanders' fourth line combined for the team's second goal, scored by Marc Gatcomb. The assist ended an 11-game point drought for Tsyplakov, who is unlikely to be very effective if he remains in the bottom six. He's at 20 points, 63 shots on net, 31 PIM, 102 hits and a plus-9 rating over 46 appearances, but the bulk of his offense has come when he's in a middle-six role.

Tsyplakov is eligible to return to the lineup versus Carolina on Saturday after completing his three-game suspension. Tsyplakov received the three-game ban for an illegal hit to the head against Philadelphia's Ryan Poehling on Jan. 16. • Islanders' Maxim Tsyplakov: Receives three-game suspension

The NHL handed Tsyplakov a three-game suspension for an illegal check to the head of Ryan Poehling (upper body) during Thursday's 5-3 win over the Flyers. Tsyplakov wasn't assessed a penalty on the play, but Poehling exited the game and won't be available for the Flyers' tilt against the Devils on Saturday. The 26-year-old Tsyplakov will be eligible to return Jan. 25 versus Carolina. He has seven goals, 19 points, 26 PIM and 101 hits in 44 outings in 2024-25. His absence might push Marc Gatcomb, who was recalled from AHL Bridgeport on Friday, into the lineup.

  • Islanders' Maxim Tsyplakov: Having hearing with DPOS

Tsyplakov will have a hearing with the NHL Department of Player Safety on Friday for an illegal check to the head of Philadelphia's Ryan Poehling (upper body) in Thursday's game. Tsyplakov was not penalized for the hit in the Flyers' 5-3 win over the Islanders. Poehling took a hit to the head at the 8:23 mark of the opening period and did not return. Tsyplakov has not picked up a point in his last 10 games and has seven goals and 19 points over 44 appearances this season.

  • Islanders' Maxim Tsyplakov: Opens scoring in win

Tsyplakov scored a goal on two shots and went plus-3 in Saturday's 6-3 win over the Maple Leafs. Tsyplakov has four goals and two assists over nine games in December. The 26-year-old isn't particularly explosive on offense, but he's been steady for a team in need of goals. He's up to 19 points, 48 shots on net, 87 hits, 22 PIM and a plus-12 rating through 34 contests in a top-six role.

  • Islanders' Maxim Tsyplakov: Offers helper in defeat

Tsyplakov logged an assist, two PIM, one blocked shot and three hits in 16:12 of ice time in Sunday's 5-3 loss to Chicago. Tsyplakov recorded the secondary assist on Noah Dobson's third-period tally, which concluded the scoring for the Isles. Tsyplakov has points in back-to-back outings, but he hasn't a had a point streak of at least three games in his first NHL season. He'll be hard-pressed to accomplish that feat on the road Tuesday against a Hurricanes club that allows just 2.87 goals per game, ninth-fewest in the league. Tsyplakov has compiled six goals (one game-winner), 12 helpers, 22 PIM, 46 shots and a plus-9 rating through 32 contests.

  • Islanders' Maxim Tsyplakov: Scores in Thursday's win

Tsyplakov scored a goal on two shots, added three hits and went plus-2 in Thursday's 5-4 win over the Blackhawks. Tsyplakov has scored three times and added an assist over six games in December. He stretched the Islanders' lead to 5-1 in the third period, but it proved to be a vital insurance goal, as the Blackhawks' late push made it the game-winner. This was his first game-winning goal in the NHL, and he now has six goals, 17 points, 46 shots on net, 84 hits, 20 PIM and a plus-9 rating through 31 outings. Tsyplakov isn't tearing it up on offense, but he's been steady and could push for a 50-point campaign.

  • Islanders' Maxim Tsyplakov: Bags apple Tuesday

Tsyplakov recorded an assist, three shots on goal and three hits in Tuesday's 4-3 overtime loss to the Oilers. Tsyplakov set up a Kyle Palmieri tally in the second period. With three helpers over his last four games, Tsyplakov continues to stay involved on offense, but he hasn't generated many shots this season. The 26-year-old winger is at 10 points, 22 shots on net, 48 hits, 14 PIM and a plus-4 rating over his first 16 NHL appearances. He had 31 goals and 47 points over 65 games in the KHL in 2023-24, so he may still have some untapped potential if he can find a better finishing touch.

  • Islanders' Maxim Tsyplakov: Generates assist Saturday

Tsyplakov notched an assist and three hits in Saturday's 4-3 overtime loss to the Devils. Tsyplakov assisted on a Brock Nelson tally that put the Islanders ahead 3-1 in the third period, but the lead didn't last. While the team's top line has battled injuries, head coach Patrick Roy has kept the trio of Tsyplakov, Nelson and Kyle Palmieri together as the second line. Tsyplakov has yet to create a point streak, but he's been fairly steady with two goals, seven helpers, 19 shots on net, 45 hits, 14 PIM and a plus-3 rating over 15 appearances this season.

  • Islanders' Maxim Tsyplakov: Sets up two goals Saturday

Tsyplakov delivered two assists in Saturday's 6-3 loss to the Panthers. Tsyplakov was credited with assists in two of the Islanders' three first-period goals, setting up Kyle Palmieri and Brock Nelson, but he's been struggling to make an impact as a scoring weapon. Even though he has four assists over his last six appearances, the 26-year-old Russian winger hasn't scored since the season-opening loss against Utah on Oct. 10, and to make things even more worrisome, he's taken just one shot over his last six appearances. Tsyplakov needs to find a way to take more risks as a scoring option for the Isles, because otherwise, his fantasy upside will continue to trend in the wrong direction.

  • Islanders' Maxim Tsyplakov: Bags power-play goal

Tsyplakov scored a goal (on three shots) and added an assist in Friday's 5-2 preseason win over the Rangers. Tsyplakov was outstanding in the power play, as both of his goal contributions in this "Battle of New York" came with the man advantage -- he set up Bo Horvat's goal in the final minutes of the first period and later gave the Isles the lead with less than a minute to go in the second frame. Tsyplakov had 31 goals and 47 points in 63 regular-season contests with the KHL's Moscow Spartak in 2023-24, and based on what he's shown in the preseason, he's expected to have a role as a top-six forward for the Isles once they begin their regular-season play against Utah on Oct. 10.

  • Islanders' Maxim Tsyplakov: Back at practice

Tsyplakov (lower body) participated in Sunday's practice, Stefen Rosner of NHL.com reports. Tsyplakov should be an option for Monday's preseason contest versus Philadelphia after leaving Friday's 5-1 win over New Jersey late in the third period as a precaution. If the line combinations from Sunday's session remain unchanged, he would skate on the second line in Monday's contest.
