Kampf scored a goal in a 3-1 win over the Islanders on Tuesday.
He put the Leafs up 1-0 late in the first period. Kampf was in the slot and one-timed a perfect pass from William Nylander past Ilya Sorokin's glove. He has two goals in his last three games, but we're not investing. Kampf is a lucky tag-along with Nylander, and he doesn't really have top-six skill. Nice goal, though.

Maple Leafs' David Kampf: Tickles twine in 500th NHL game
Kampf scored his first goal of the campaign in Friday's 5-2 win over Detroit.
Kampf opened the scoring in the first period of his 500th career NHL game. The 29-year-old added two PIM, two shots and a plus-1 rating in 12:31 of ice time. Kampf's role as a fourth-line center and penalty killer has naturally limited his offensive contributions in 2024-25. The Czech Republic native has chipped in one goal, four helpers, two PIM, 10 blocked shots, 21 hits and 21 shots on goal through 23 appearances.

Kampf picked up his first point in three games since he returned from a lower-body injury that cost him 12 contests. He was up in a second-line role Saturday since Auston Matthews (upper body) was unavailable. Kampf is best suited to a bottom-six role -- he has four helpers, 19 hits, 19 shots on net and a plus-1 rating while averaging 12:38 of ice time over 21 outings this season.

Kampf has missed 12 consecutive games due to the injury. The left-shot center should slot in on the fourth line in addition to filling a role on the penalty kill. Connor Dewar will likely be a healthy scratch Wednesday in Dallas.

Maple Leafs' David Kampf: Out until at least mid-December
Kampf (lower body) was moved to long-term injured reserve Wednesday and will be unavailable until at least Dec. 14 against the Red Wings, David Alter of The Hockey News reports.
Kampf was placed on injured reserve Tuesday, retroactive to Nov. 16, and he'll be ineligible to return for nearly a month after moving to long-term injured reserve, a transaction that helped free up salary cap space to call up Nikita Grebenkin on Wednesday. It's not yet clear whether Kampf will be able to suit up when he's first eligible to return, but a better idea of his recovery timetable could come into focus over the next few weeks.

Maple Leafs' David Kampf: Placed on injured reserve
Kampf was designated for injured reserve Tuesday with a lower-body injury retroactive to Nov. 16.
Kampf played 14:22 of ice time in that Nov. 16 matchup with Edmonton, which is actually above his season average (12:18), so it's not immediately clear when he got hurt. Technically, the 29-year-old winger will only have to miss one game -- Wednesday's matchup with Vegas -- before he can be activated, though it could be longer once the team provides a more concrete update.
