Friedman will be reassigned to AHL Abbotsford assuming he clears waivers. Even if the blueliner was kept on the roster, it would likely be as the seventh or eighth defenseman with the veteran serving primarily as a healthy scratch. If there is an injury in the future, Friedman should be atop the list of potential call-ups, though he shouldn't be expected to offer much in the way of fantasy value even at the NHL level.

Friedman inked a one-year, $775,000 contract with the Canucks on Wednesday.
Friedman was eligible to become an unrestricted free agent this summer after completing his two-year, $1.55 million deal.
