Svechnikov is good to play Thursday after missing Tuesday's 4-1 win over Philadelphia with an illness. Svechnikov has a goal and nine points in 12 contests this season. He's projected to play on a line with Jack Drury and Stefan Noesen in his return. Brendan Lemieux is likely to serve as a healthy scratch after playing Tuesday.... See More ... See Less

Hurricanes' Andrei Svechnikov: Practicing Thursday
Svechnikov (illness) was back at practice Thursday, Walt Ruff of the Hurricanes' official site reports. Svechnikov missed Tuesday's tilt versus Philadelphia but looks good to go versus the Islanders on Thursday. Svechnikov is on a four-game point streak, giving him a goal and eight assists in 12 contests. The 23-year-old reached the 55-point threshold in each of the previous two campaigns and is on pace to hit that mark again this season.... See More ... See Less -
Hurricanes' Andrei Svechnikov: Unavailable for Tuesday's game
Svechnikov (illness) won't play Tuesday versus the Flyers. Svechnikov has an active four-game point streak (one goal, four assists), so this absence due to illness comes at a rough time. The 23-year-old winger has slowly gotten back up to speed after recovering from ACL surgery, which kept him out of the lineup for the first eight contests of this campaign. Brendan Lemieux will likely be in the lineup Tuesday, while Svechnikov will aim to be healthy again for Thursday's game versus the Islanders.... See More ... See Less -
Hurricanes' Andrei Svechnikov: Fuels comeback win
Svechnikov scored a goal on six shots, dished an assist and went plus-2 in Sunday's 3-2 win over the Blue Jackets. The Hurricanes trailed 2-1 before Svechnikov set up Brady Skjei for the equalizer and scored the go-ahead goal himself in a span of 1:14 late in the third period. The goal was Svechnikov's first of the year, and it might just be the one to open the floodgates. The winger has a goal and five helpers over his last six games, giving him nine points, 28 shots, 24 hits, 18 PIM and a plus-1 rating through 12 appearances this season.... See More ... See Less -
Hurricanes' Andrei Svechnikov: Notches helper Saturday
Svechnikov posted an even-strength assist in Saturday's 4-0 win over the Lightning. Since returning from IR in late October following knee surgery back in March, Svechnikov's point totals (four assists in seven games) have been mediocre at best -- and he's still waiting on his first goal. It may be taking him a while to get back up to speed, but there's still good reason to expect Svechnikov will rediscover his scoring touch at some point. You may just want to keep him on your fantasy bench until he starts showing a little more consistency.... See More ... See Less -
Hurricanes' Andrei Svechnikov: Scoreless in season debut
Svechnikov (knee) was scoreless in his season debut in Friday's 3-0 win against the Sharks. Svechnikov ended up with four shots on goal, a blocked shot, a minor penalty and three hits in his 13:40 of ice time across 16 shifts. He was skating on the team's fourth line to get back into game shape, but he'll more than likely scoot back to his regular top-six forward job once he is fully acclimated after the long layoff.... Hurricanes' Andrei Svechnikov: Making season debut Friday
Svechnikov (knee) has been activated off injured reserve and will be in action versus San Jose on Friday. Svechnikov will suit up for the first time since March 11 against the Golden Knights due to his ACL injury. Despite playing in just 64 games last season, the Russian winger still managed to reach both the 20-goal and 50-point thresholds. With his injury concerns behind him, Svechnikov should be capable of hitting those marks again in 2023-24 and possibly pushing for 60 points.... See More ... See Less -
Hurricanes' Andrei Svechnikov: Not quite ready
Svechnikov (knee) won't play Thursday versus the Kraken, Walt Ruff of the Hurricanes' official site reports. Svechnikov will miss his eighth straight game to start the season, but he is likely more in the day-to-day range now. This may be a case of the Hurricanes not wanting him to play back-to-back days after a long absence. Svechnikov has not been ruled out for Friday's game versus the Sharks.... See More ... See Less -
Hurricanes' Andrei Svechnikov: Not ruled out Thursday
Svechnikov (knee) hasn't been ruled out for Thursday's matchup with Seattle. Coach Rod Brind'Amour told reporters, "When he gives us the green light, we'll definitely chuck him in there. We're counting the days. Whether it's tomorrow or the next game, I think we're definitely right around the corner," per Walt Ruff of the Hurricanes' official site. Svechnikov was on the ice Wednesday skating in a fourth-line role, which is unlikely to be his spot in the lineup once cleared to play. Despite being limited to just 64 games last season, the 23-year-old winger managed to put up the fourth 20-goal campaign in his five-year NHL career. Barring a last-minute setback, Svechnikov should be in line to reach that threshold again this season. Whenever he is cleared to play, the Russian should slot into a top-six role and link up with the No. 1 power-play unit.... See More ... See Less -
Hurricanes' Andrei Svechnikov: Practices, won't play Tuesday
Svechnikov (knee) won't play Tuesday against Tampa Bay despite being a full participant in Monday's practice, per Cory Lavalette of the North State Journal. Svechnikov believes he should be ready to return after a few more practice sessions. He hasn't since March 3 due to knee surgery. Svechnikov accounted for 23 goals and 55 points in 64 appearances during the 2022-23 campaign.... See More ... See Less -
Hurricanes' Andrei Svechnikov: Ruled out of season opener
Svechnikov (knee) won't be available for Wednesday's season opener versus Ottawa and likely won't travel with the Hurricanes for the team's upcoming six-game road trip, Cory Lavalette of the North State Journal reports. According to Walt Ruff of the Hurricanes' official site, when asked about Svechnikov on Tuesday, coach Rod Brind'Amour said, "It's not something you want to rush him back from. Obviously, he's close, but not ready. So, we'll go without him for a while." Although at this point he's only officialy been ruled out of Wednesday's matchup with the Senators, it sounds like Svechnikov will almost certainly miss at least a few more games to start the season. Michael Bunting is currently on track to start the campaign skating in Svechnikov's spot on Carolina's top line.... See More ... See Less -
Hurricanes' Andrei Svechnikov: Not expected to play Wednesday
Svechnikov (knee) practiced in a non-contact jersey Tuesday, indicating he likely won't be available for Wednesday's season opener versus Ottawa, Cory Lavalette of the North State Journal reports. Svechnikov is still working his way back from offseason knee surgery. The fact that he's been able to practice in a non-contact capacity is certainly encouraging, but it looks like he'll probably still miss some time to start the season. If Svechnikov is unable to go, Michael Bunting could get an opportunity to skate on the top line against the Senators.... See More ... See Less -
Hurricanes' Andrei Svechnikov: Starting year on IR
Svechnikov (knee) was placed on injured reserve Monday, per CapFriendly. Svechnikov was still skating in a non-contact jersey in practice over the weekend and it's unclear when he's expected to return to action. He's still working his way back from knee surgery in March. The 23-year-old tallied 55 points in 64 games before the injury last season.... See More ... See Less -
Hurricanes' Andrei Svechnikov: Still in non-contact jersey
Svechnikov (knee) practiced in a yellow jersey once again Friday, Cory Lavalette of the North State Journal reports. Svechnikov has yet to put on a regular jersey, but he is still expected to be ready for the start of the regular season Wednesday versus the Senators. Svechnikov underwent reconstructive surgery on his knee March 16 after registering 23 goals and 55 points in 64 games last season. Look for Svechnikov to be a top-six forward and play on the top power-play unit this season.... See More ... See Less -
Hurricanes' Andrei Svechnikov: On track to play in opener
Svechnikov (knee) is on track to be ready for the start of the regular season, Hurricanes GM Don Waddell told Michael Russo of The Athletic on Wednesday. Svechnikov underwent reconstructive knee surgery March 11, but he's ahead of schedule in his recovery. The 23-year-old had 23 goals and 55 points in 64 contests in 2022-23. Svechnikov is expected to slot into his usual featured top-six role for the start of the 2023-24 campaign.... See More ... See Less -
Hurricanes' Andrei Svechnikov: Expecting to skate in July
Svechnikov (knee) is expecting to resume skating in July, Cory Lavalette of the North State Journal reports. Svechnikov suffered the injury that required surgery on March 11, ending his season. The talented Russian will return home for a month before returning to Raleigh to resume his rehab. Svechnikov had 23 goals and 55 points in 64 regular-season games. Look for Svechnikov to return in time for the start of training camp in September and regain his role as a top-line winger.... See More ... See Less -
Hurricanes' Andrei Svechnikov: Moves to LTIR
Svechnikov was placed on long-term injured reserve Wednesday, per CapFriendly.com. Svechnikov will undergo knee surgery Thursday, so this move simply frees up cap space for the Hurricanes for the remainder of the regular season. It is unclear if the winger will be ready by the start of training camp.... See More ... See Less -
Hurricanes' Andrei Svechnikov: Lands on IR
Svechnikov (knee) was placed on injured reserve Wednesday. Svechnikov is set to undergo season-ending knee surgery Thursday, so this move was expected. The 22-year-old winger will finish the 2022-23 campaign having racked up 23 goals and 55 points through 64 contests. At this point, it isn't clear if Svechnikov will be ready for the start of training camp in September.... See More ... See Less -
Hurricanes' Andrei Svechnikov: Set for knee surgery
Svehcnikov will undergo knee surgery Thursday and will be out for the remainder of the season, including the playoffs. Svehcnikov's absence will be a huge blow to the Canes' hopes of making a deep playoff run, especially considering he already reached the 20-goal threshold this year. The 22-year-old Russian's 2022-23 campaign will end with him having notched 23 goals and 32 assists, including 16 power-play points, in 64 games. Jesse Puljujarvi figures to get the first crack at a top-six role with Svehcnikov unavailable.... See More ... See Less -
Hurricanes' Andrei Svechnikov: Out indefinitely
Svechnikov (knee) is out indefinitely and there's concern he suffered a torn ACL, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reports. A torn ACL this late in the year would end his 2022-23 campaign. Svechnikov and the team are seeking additional opinions after his MRI results Monday. The 22-year-old has 23 goals and 55 points through 64 games this season and was injured Saturday against Vegas.... See More ... See Less
