Sandin logged an assist and went plus-2 in Thursday's 5-4 win over the Ducks. Sandin had been held off the scoresheet in five straight games entering Thursday. He ended the slump by setting up Nic Dowd's first-period tally. Sandin was a popular breakout candidate at the start of the year, but he's fallen flat with five helpers, 27 shots on net, 44 blocked shots, 18 hits and a plus-4 rating over 20 outings this season. While the offense isn't all there yet, he's still in a top-four role.... See More ... See Less

Capitals' Rasmus Sandin: Bouncing back offensively
Sandin supplied an assist and four blocked shots in Friday's 4-2 win over the Devils. Sandin has two assists over the last three games, which qualifies as a sudden surge considering he was held without a point in all eight October contests. The Capitals are sending Sandin to the ice in the offensive zone 62.4 percent of the time, plus he's hanging onto a No. 2 power-play spot, so he may be able to keep it going offensively in the near term. Sandin also has 11 hits and 27 blocked shots through 12 games.... See More ... See Less -
Capitals' Rasmus Sandin: Good to go Friday
Sandin (undisclosed) will be in Friday's lineup against the Wild, Tarik El-Bashir of Monumental Sports Network reports. Sandin suffered a minor injury Wednesday against the Devils but he won't miss any action because of it. The 23-year-old blueliner is still searching for his first point of the season -- through six games, he has just five shots on goal with a minus-4 rating.... See More ... See Less -
Capitals' Rasmus Sandin: Game-time decision Friday
Sandin (undisclosed) is a game-time decision Friday against the Wild, Tarik El-Bashir of Monumental Sports Network reports. Sandin left in the third period of Wednesday's 6-4 win over New Jersey after taking a hit from Devils defenseman Jonas Siegenthaler. The 23-year-old Sandin's availability will be clarified prior to puck drop, but he did take part in the full morning skate alongside Trevor Van Riemsdyk, so even if Sandin is held out Friday, his absence likely won't last long.... Capitals' Rasmus Sandin: Exits Wednesday's contest
Sandin (undisclosed) will not return to Wednesday's game versus the Devils, Sammi Silber of The Hockey News reports. Sandin took a big hit from Jonas Siegenthaler in the third period. The nature of Sandin's injury was not revealed prior to the end of the game. If Sandin misses time, Hardy Haman-Aktell or Lucas Johansen could be options to enter the lineup, while Alexander Alexeyev or Nick Jensen would likely see top-four minutes.... See More ... See Less -

Capitals' Rasmus Sandin: Injury isn't serious
Sandin's leg injury isn't believed to be serious, Capitals general manager Brian MacLellan told Tom Gulitti of NHL.com on Thursday. Sandin was hurt when he absorbed a knee-on-knee hit from Team USA's Mikey Eyssimont on May 23 during an IIHF World Championship game. It sounds like Sandin should be fine for training camp in September. He had seven goals and 35 points in 71 outings split between Toronto and Washington in 2022-23.... See More ... See Less -
Capitals' Rasmus Sandin: Exits with apparent leg injury
Sandin exited Tuesday's IIHF World Championship game versus Team USA with an apparent leg injury and didn't return, TSN reports. Sandin suffered the injury when he took a knee-on-knee hit from Team USA's Mikey Eyssimont, who was ejected from the contest for his role in the play. At this point the severity of Sandin's injury remains unclear, but further updates should be released in the coming days.... See More ... See Less -
Capitals' Rasmus Sandin: Ends year with goal
Sandin scored a goal on three shots in Thursday's 5-4 loss to the Devils. Sandin extended Washington's lead to 2-0 early in the first period, working his way into the slot before beating Mackenzie Blackwood with a one-timer. Sandin also logged nine penalty minutes in the contest, including a fighting major after a scrap with Curtis Lazar in the second. The 23-year-old Sandin finishes the year with 35 points (seven goals, 28 assists), with 15 coming in 19 games with Washington following a deadline trade from Toronto. With the Capitals likely rebuilding in 2023-24, Sandin figures to play a sizeable role on the blue line.... See More ... See Less -
Capitals' Rasmus Sandin: Scores Monday
Sandin scored a goal on his only shot in Monday's 5-2 win over the Islanders. Sandin extended Washington's lead to 2-0 just 1:03 into the first period, firing a shot through traffic that found its way past Ilya Sorokin. The goal was Sandin's first since March 6, though he's logged eight assists in 15 games over that span. The 23-year-old blueliner now has two goals and 14 points in 17 games with the Capitals. He's up to 34 points (six goals, 28 assists) through 69 games between Washington and Toronto.... See More ... See Less -

Sandin picked up an assist while playing a team-high 25:29 minutes in Tuesday's 7-6 overtime loss to the Blue Jackets. Sandin registered an assist on Conor Sheary's goal in the first period, extending the defenseman's point streak to three games. The 23-year-old Sandin has found another level to his game since he was traded to Washington, tallying a goal and 11 assists through his first nine games. Sandin has been playing on the Caps' first power-play unit while also receiving top-four minutes alongside Nick Jensen. Sandin is up to six goals and 27 points in 61 games between Toronto and Washington.... See More ... See Less -
Capitals' Rasmus Sandin: Tallies three assists Saturday
Sandin registered three assists in a 5-1 win over the Islanders on Saturday. Sandin's three helpers were all primary assists. He has five goals and 28 points in 56 contests this season. Capitals' Rasmus Sandin: Factors in on both goals in loss
Sandin scored a goal, dished an assist, doled out three hits and added two PIM in Monday's 4-2 loss to the Kings. Sandin is thriving since he was thrust into a first-pairing role with the Capitals -- he has a goal and four helpers through two contests with his new team. The 22-year-old defenseman is up to 25 points, 59 shots on net, 119 hits, 60 blocked shots, 25 PIM and a plus-11 rating through 54 outings this season. Until John Carlson (face) is cleared to return, Sandin should be the Capitals' best blueliner for fantasy.... See More ... See Less -
Capitals' Rasmus Sandin: Turns on offense in debut
Sandin delivered three assists in an 8-3 win over the Sharks on Saturday. What a Washington debut for the young Swede. Sandin even picked up one helper with the man advantage, where he led all Washington blueliners in ice time (2:55). Capitals' Rasmus Sandin: Good to play Saturday
Sandin (not injury related) has completed the immigration process and is expected to make his Capitals debut Saturday versus San Jose, Capitals coach Peter Laviolette told Roman Stubbs of The Washington Post. Sandin was acquired by Washington from Toronto on Tuesday. He has four goals, 20 points, 113 hits and 59 blocks in 52 games this season. Defensemen Martin Fehervary (lower body) and Nick Jensen (upper body) are both questionable for Saturday's game after being unable to complete Wednesday's contest, so the Capitals could certainly use Sandin's help right now.... Capitals' Rasmus Sandin: Not yet clear to play
Sandin (not injury related) has not resolved his immigration issues and won't play Wednesday versus the Ducks, Tarik El-Bashir of The Athletic reports. Sandin's next chance to make his Capitals debut is Saturday in San Jose, so he could have enough time to work through the immigration process. Matt Irwin and Alexander Alexeyev should remain in the lineup until Sandin can play.... See More ... See Less -
Capitals' Rasmus Sandin: Questionable Wednesday
Sandin is questionable for Wednesday's game against Anaheim because he has immigration issues that first need to be resolved, per Tarik El-Bashir of The Athletic. Sandin was acquired by Washington from Toronto on Tuesday. He had four goals and 20 points in 52 games while averaging 17:59 with the Maple Leafs this season. If Sandin doesn't make his Capitals debut Wednesday, then Alexander Alexeyev might draw into the lineup for the first time since Jan. 21.... See More ... See Less -
Capitals' Rasmus Sandin: Brought in via trade
Sandin was acquired by the Capitals from the Leafs on Tuesday in exchange for Erik Gustafsson and a 2023 first-round pick. When he has featured this year, the 22-year-old Sandin notched four goals and 16 assists, including seven power-play points.... See More ... See Less -
Maple Leafs' Rasmus Sandin: Expecting to play Sunday
Sandin (upper body) practiced Sunday and will likely suit up against the Kraken, per Mark Masters of TSN. Sandin has missed three games after suffering the upper-body injury last Saturday.
