  • Blackhawks' Colin Blackwell: Goals in consecutive games

Blackwell scored a goal on two shots and added two hits in Friday's 3-2 overtime loss to the Jets. Blackwell got the Blackhawks on the board in the second period. The 30-year-old forward has scored in back-to-back outings after posting just a single assist and 36 shots on net over his previous 16 games. He's at eight points, 60 shots, 35 hits and a minus-2 rating through 28 appearances. Blackwell is seeing time in a middle-six role, but his offense is too low for fantasy consideration in most formats.

  • Blackhawks' Colin Blackwell: Snaps goal drought Wednesday

Blackwell scored his fourth goal of the season in Wednesday's 3-1 loss to the Flyers. The 30-year-old got Chicago on the board midway through the first period with a nifty move on Samuel Ersson, but it was all the offense the home side could muster. Blackwell snapped a 10-game point drought and a 16-game goalless streak in the process, and on the season he has only seven points in 27 games. He did see top-six minutes at even strength Wednesday, but Blackwell is still a long way from the fantasy radar.

  • Blackhawks' Colin Blackwell: Carries offense without Bedard

Blackwell scored two goals, including the game-winner on the power play, and added an even-strength assist in Sunday's 4-3 win over the Flames. With Connor Bedard (jaw) sidelined, Chicago needs someone to step up and carry the offense, and Blackwell made his case by beating Dan Vladar twice to the goalie's glove side. The 30-year-old Blackwell has never been a prolific scorer in the NHL, but he's never gotten a real chance to become one and has flashed some offensive potential at lower levels, producing 23 points (six goals, 17 helpers) in 26 games during his last extended stretch in the AHL back in 2019-20. Chicago has little to lose by seeing if he can become a consistent contributor in Bedard's absence.

  • Blackhawks' Colin Blackwell: Scores lone goal in loss

Blackwell scored a goal on two shots in Thursday's 4-1 loss to the Rangers. It was the first goal of the season for Blackwell after he was sidelined for the opening 30 games of the year due to a groin problem. Considering the Massachusetts native managed a mere two goals in 53 games last season, fantasy players probably shouldn't be banking on him scoring with consistency this year.

  • Blackhawks' Colin Blackwell: Returns from IR

Blackwell (groin) was activated from injured reserve Sunday, per CapFriendly. Blackwell has been on injured reserve since early October and has yet to make his season debut. The 30-year-old tallied two goals and 10 points in 53 games last season. He did not suit up Sunday against Vancouver but could return Tuesday against Colorado.

  • Blackhawks' Colin Blackwell: Lands on IR

Blackwell (groin) was placed on injured reserve Monday, per CapFriendly. Blackwell is expected to miss the first five games of the campaign at a minimum. He picked up just 10 points through 53 appearances with Chicago last season, so fantasy managers shouldn't need to track his status.

  • Blackhawks' Colin Blackwell: Skates after practice Saturday

Blackwell (sports hernia) was back on the ice after practice Saturday, according to Ben Pope of the Chicago Sun-Times. Blackwell underwent season-ending surgery in March and it was thought the recovery period would be 12 weeks. It has been more than six months since the surgery and Blackwell finally returned to the ice for a skate Saturday. He had two goals and 10 points in 53 games last season. There is no timetable for his return at this time.

  • Blackhawks' Colin Blackwell: Undergoes season-ending surgery

Blackwell underwent season-ending sports hernia surgery Wednesday, Charlie Roumeliotis of NBC Sports Chicago reports. Blackwell is expected to make a full recovery in 12 weeks, so at this point there's no reason to believe he won't be ready for training camp in September. He'll finish the 2022-23 campaign having collected 10 points and a minus-16 rating while averaging 11:48 of ice time through 53 contests.

  • Blackhawks' Colin Blackwell: Still not returning

Blackwell (groin) remains out of the lineup versus the Predators on Thursday, Ben Pope of the Chicago Sun-Times reports. Blackwell remains out indefinitely after sustaining a groin injury in late February. Even once he returns, he would likely be limited to a bottom-six role.

  • Blackhawks' Colin Blackwell: Expected to miss time

Blackwell will "miss some time" with a pulled groin, Scott Powers of The Athletic reports. Blackwell was injured Monday against the Ducks and it sounds like he'll miss at least a few games, if not more. He can be considered out indefinitely until there's an update on his recovery. If Philipp Kurashev (illness) can't play Tuesday against Arizona, the team will likely need to promote a replacement.

Blackwell (undisclosed) will not return Monday against Anaheim. Blackwell logged 5:52 of ice time before exiting Monday's contest. He has seven points through 53 games this season, with seven of those coming in his last 21 appearances. There should be an update on his status before Tuesday's tilt with Arizona.

  • Blackhawks' Colin Blackwell: Offers helper in shootout win

Blackwell posted an assist and two hits in Saturday's 4-3 shootout win over the Sharks. Blackwell ended a seven-game point drought with a helper on David Gust's first-period tally. The 29-year-old Blackwell remains in a bottom-six role, and he hasn't done much on offense in that spot all year. He's up to two goals, eight helpers, 53 shots on net, 49 hits and a minus-16 rating through 52 appearances.

  • Blackhawks' Colin Blackwell: Nets goal Friday

Blackwell scored a goal in Friday's 4-3 overtime win over the Coyotes. Blackwell had gone 10 games without a goal, but he managed four assists in that span. His scoring drought ended at 14:34 of the third period, giving the Blackhawks their first lead in the game. The 29-year-old forward continues to play a fairly limited role with nine points, 45 shots on net, 44 hits and a minus-11 rating through 44 contests this season. Given his bottom-six role and the Blackhawks' lackluster team offense, Blackwell's best left on the waiver wire in fantasy.

For the season, he's at one goal, seven helpers, 43 shots on net, 44 hits and a minus-11 rating through 41 outings.

  • Blackhawks' Colin Blackwell: Scores first goal of 2022-23

Blackwell found the back of the net in Sunday's 4-3 overtime win against Calgary. Blackwell scored at 10:10 of the first period to put Chicago up 2-1. It was his first goal and fourth point in 33 games in 2022-23. Blackwell entered the contest averaging just 11:54 of ice time this season and shouldn't be expected to make regular offensive contributions unless his role grows.

  • Blackhawks' Colin Blackwell: Posts rare point

Blackwell managed an assist in Wednesday's 6-4 loss to the Stars. Blackwell is a penalty-killing specialist with limited fantasy prospects. He's added three helpers through 16 games and 12:17 of average ice time.

  • Blackhawks' Colin Blackwell: Signs two-year deal with Chicago

Blackwell signed a two-year, $2.4 million contract with the Blackhawks on Wednesday. Blackwell drew into 58 games split between the Kraken and the Maple Leafs last season, picking up 10 goals and 20 points over that span. If he's able to to stay healthy for a full 82-game slate, the 29-year-old forward should be able to once again pot double-digit goals while surpassing the 25-point mark.

  • Maple Leafs' Colin Blackwell: Pockets helper in loss

Blackwell provided an assist, four hits and a minus-2 rating in Sunday's 7-3 loss to the Lightning in Game 4. Blackwell has done well on the road in the playoffs, earning a goal and an assist in the last two games. The 29-year-old finished the regular season with 20 points in 58 appearances between the Kraken and the Maple Leafs, playing mainly in a fourth-line role with the latter after the trade deadline. As such, he shouldn't be expected to produce much offense, and he could cycle out of the lineup for the likes of Kyle Clifford or Wayne Simmonds.

  • Maple Leafs' Colin Blackwell: First career NHL playoff goal

Blackwell scored a goal Friday in a 5-2 win over Tampa Bay in Game 3. It was his first NHL playoff point and he made the most of his 6:27 of ice time. Blackwell isn't going to put up much for fantasy, but he plays an important energy role on the fourth line. He also managed a hit.
