  • Avalanche's Mikko Rantanen: Assist streak at five games

Rantanen supplied an assist, three shots on goal and a minus-2 rating in Sunday's 4-1 loss to the Kings.

Rantanen's now gone six games without a goal, but he has six assists over his last five contests to remain steady on offense. The 27-year-old winger is tied with Nathan MacKinnon for second on the Avalanche with 31 points through 24 appearances. Rantanen has added 74 shots on net, 16 PIM and a plus-7 rating while featuring heavily in a top-line role and on the first power-play unit.

  • Avalanche's Nathan MacKinnon: Keeps rolling with helper

MacKinnon notched an assist and two shots on goal in Sunday's 4-1 loss to the Kings.

The helper extended MacKinnon's point streak to eight games (two goals, nine assists). The center is still shooting a rather low 7.2 percent this season, his lowest mark since 2016-17, which was one year before he ascended to superstar status. He's still managed to rack up 31 points, 111 shots on net, 24 blocked shots, 22 PIM and a plus-7 rating through 24 contests, even if he's been more playmaker than finisher.

  • Avalanche's Josh Manson: Pots first goal of season

Manson scored a goal on two shots, blocked two shots and added two PIM in Sunday's 4-1 loss to the Kings.

Manson was bumped up to the top pairing at even strength with Cale Makar (undisclosed) out of action. The goal at 12:28 of the first period was Manson's first tally of the campaign, though it was also all the Avalanche could put past Cam Talbot. Manson has three points through 21 outings this season, though two of them have come over the last two games. He's added 27 shots on net, 40 hits, 33 blocked shots, 32 PIM and a minus-3 rating. While he may absorb most of Makar's minutes, Manson's playing style doesn't make for a particularly reliable fantasy profile.

  • Avalanche's Alexandar Georgiev: Drops result in Hollywood

Georgiev stopped 34 of 37 shots in Sunday's 4-1 loss to the Kings. The fourth goal was an empty-netter.

Georgiev gave up a pair of goals in a 56-second span in the third period, which ended up deciding the close game. This was Georgiev's second loss in a row, his second multi-game skid of the year after losing three straight from Oct. 26-Nov. 4. The 27-year-old has a strong 13-6-1 record, but it comes with a rather pedestrian 2.90 GAA and a .900 save percentage over a league-high 20 starts. The Avalanche play their third game in four days when they host the Ducks on Tuesday.

  • Avalanche's Alexandar Georgiev: Facing Kings

Georgiev will get the starting nod in Los Angeles on Sunday, Zach Dooley of the Kings' official site reports.

After rattling off three straight wins, Georgiev coughed up four goals in an overtime loss to Arizona on Thursday. The 27-year-old fell to 13-5-1 with a pedestrian 2.89 GAA and .897 save percentage through 19 appearances. Since the start of November, Georgiev has registered an .883 save percentage.

  • Avalanche's Cale Makar: Unavailable Sunday

Makar (lower body) won't play Sunday versus the Kings, Corey Masisak of The Denver Post reports.

Makar missed the final 2:57 of the third period as well as overtime and the shootout in a 4-3 loss to Anaheim on Saturday. He has racked up seven goals, 34 points, 57 shots on net and 40 blocked shots through 23 games this season. Consider him day-to-day ahead of Tuesday's game against the Ducks. Sam Malinski will replace Makar in the lineup Sunday.

  • Avalanche's Cale Makar: Leaves Saturday's game

Makar was removed from Saturday's 4-3 shootout loss to the Ducks immediately prior to the end of regulation with an undisclosed injury, Evan Rawal of Colorado Hockey Now reports.

Makar's final shift of the night ended with 2:57 left in regulation. Colorado head coach Jared Bednar said following the game that the defenseman is "dealing with something" which prevented him from participating in overtime or the shootout. The Avalanche are back in business Sunday night at Los Angeles, and Makar's status will be of primary concern leading up to the 8:00 p.m ET start. Sam Malinski is up with the team in case Makar misses time.

  • Avalanche's Fredrik Olofsson: Chips in with helper

Olofsson notched an assist and three hits in Saturday's 4-3 shootout loss to the Ducks.

Olofsson set up the second of Bowen Byram's goals in the first period. Playing in a fourth-line role, Olofsson makes only occasional contributions on offense. He's at two goals, two assists, 22 shots on net, 17 hits and 11 blocked shots through 22 outings, matching his four-point campaign from 28 contests a season ago.

  • Avalanche's Josh Manson: Nabs helper in shootout loss

Manson produced an assist, three shots on goal, six hits, two blocked shots and two PIM in Saturday's 4-3 shootout loss to the Ducks.

Manson snapped a 15-game point drought with a helper on Bowen Byram's second goal of the game. With Samuel Girard (personal) on an indefinite leave from the team, Manson has stepped up in a top-four role, averaging 18:23 of ice time per game across his last four contests. He's produced a meager two assists this season, but the 32-year-old adds plenty of toughness with 40 hits, 31 blocked shots, 30 PIM and 25 shots on net through 20 appearances.

  • Avalanche's Miles Wood: Supplies helper Saturday

Wood notched an assist and three shots on goal in Saturday's 4-3 shootout loss to the Ducks.

Wood has two goals and three assists over his last nine contests. The 28-year-old winger has brought solid energy to the Avalanche's third line while averaging 12:24 of ice time per game. He's up to nine points with 44 shots on net, 29 hits and 20 PIM through 23 outings this season. Wood's physical play could have some appeal in deeper fantasy formats, but his offense isn't strong enough for widespread interest.

  • Avalanche's Ross Colton: Helpers in back-to-back games

Colton notched an assist, three shots on goal and two PIM in Saturday's 4-3 shootout loss to the Ducks.

Colton has an assist in each of the last two games, and he's racked up four goals and four helpers through his last 10 outings. The 27-year-old has been a perfect fit in a middle-six role for the Avalanche, doing well despite averaging a mere 13:00 of ice time per game as the team leans on its top line heavily. Colton has 12 points, 53 shots on net, 34 hits, 33 PIM and a plus-3 rating through 23 contests.

  • Avalanche's Mikko Rantanen: Deals helper in shootout loss

Rantanen notched an assist and three shots on goal in Saturday's 4-3 shootout loss to the Ducks.

Rantanen has five helpers during his four-game streak, though he's now gone five contests without a goal. The 27-year-old can pile up points with the best of them, and he's effective as both a scorer and a provider. Rantanen has 30 points, 71 shots on net, 16 PIM and a plus-9 rating over 23 contests, keeping him on track to top the 100-point mark for the second straight year.

  • Avalanche's Nathan MacKinnon: Riding seven-game point streak

MacKinnon provided an assist, six shots on goal and two blocked shots in Saturday's 4-3 shootout loss to the Ducks.

MacKinnon has amassed two goals and eight helpers during his seven-game point streak. This is his longest heater of the year, though he also racked up 11 points over a five-game streak in the first half of November. The superstar has eight goals, 22 assists, 109 shots on net, 23 blocked shots, 22 PIM and a plus-8 rating as a fixture on the Avalanche's top line and first power-play unit.

  • Avalanche's Devon Toews: Bulges twine Saturday

Toews scored a goal on three shots, blocked three shots and went plus-2 in Saturday's 4-3 shootout loss to the Ducks.

Toews' goal in the final minute of the first period gave the Avalanche a 3-1 lead. That's all the offense they mustered as John Gibson closed the door over the rest of the contest. Toews had gone three games without a point prior to Saturday. The 29-year-old defenseman is up to four tallies, 13 points, 38 shots on net, 27 blocked shots, 17 hits and a plus-13 rating through 23 appearances. His roles on the top pairing and second power-play unit remain secure.

  • Avalanche's Bowen Byram: Scores twice early Saturday

Byram scored two goals on three shots and blocked four shots in Saturday's 4-3 shootout loss to the Ducks.

Byram tallied in the first minute and had a second goal before the halfway point of the first period. The defenseman entered Saturday with just two assists over his previous 10 contests before breaking out of the slump. He's managed five goals, three helpers, 36 shots on net, 35 blocked shots, 32 PIM and 23 hits through 23 outings overall.

  • Avalanche's Ivan Prosvetov: Loses in shootout

Prosvetov allowed three goals on 37 shots in Saturday's 4-3 shootout loss to the Ducks.

Prosvetov was given a 3-1 lead to protect after the first period. The Ducks' power play cashed in twice, and Leo Carlsson scored both in the second period and in the shootout to send Prosvetov to his second defeat of the year. The 24-year-old goalie is at 2-1-1 with a 2.45 GAA and a .919 save percentage over six contests this season. Alexandar Georgiev will likely be back between the pipes for Sunday's game versus the Kings, as Prosvetov's playing time has been limited in 2023-24.
