Jets' Colin Miller: Scores in Friday's win
Muller scored a goal on three shots, levied three hits, added two PIM and went plus-2 in Friday's 3-2 win over the Flames.
Miller strengthened his case to begin the year on the third pairing with a second-period goal Friday. He has five points over four preseason outings. Miller appears to have done enough to fend off fellow right-shot blueliner Dylan Coghlan, and the former's steady presence in all zones should help cover for the early absences of Logan Stanley (knee) and Ville Heinola (ankle). That said, Miller typically won't produce enough offense to entice most fantasy managers.

Jets' Kyle Connor: Tallies game-winner
Connor scored a goal on two shots and added two PIM in Friday's 3-2 preseason win over the Flames.
Connor tallied at 16:51 of the third period to break a 2-2 tie. With three goals in as many preseason outings, the 27-year-old winger is in fine form ahead of Opening Night. A knee injury in the middle of 2023-24 limited him to 32 goals and 61 points in 65 regular-season outings last year, but he should push for the 40-goal and 80-point marks if he can stay healthy in 2024-25.

Jets' Connor Hellebuyck: Sharp again Friday
Hellebuyck stopped 32 of 34 shots in Friday's 3-2 preseason win over the Flames.
Hellebuyck allowed a couple of goals early in the third period, but the Jets won with a Kyle Connor tally late in the frame. Hellebuyck has defeated the Flames in back-to-back games, putting him in position to be ready for Opening Night on Wednesday in Edmonton. The 31-year-old is coming off of his second Vezina win and should be one of the most reliable goalies in the league in 2024-25, even if the Jets can't match their 52-win, 110-point season from last year.

Jets' Connor Hellebuyck: Starting Friday
Hellebuyck will be in goal in Friday's road preseason game versus the Flames, per the NHL media site.
Hellebuyck has one decent start and one awful game across his two preseason outings. He'll get a chance to further iron things out Friday in the Jets' preseason finale. The 31-year-old is a near lock to start Opening Night at Edmonton on Wednesday.

Jets' Jaret Anderson-Dolan: Unavailable Friday
Anderson-Dolan (undisclosed) will not dress Friday in Calgary, according to Mike McIntyre of the Winnipeg Free Press.
Anderson-Dolan was injured blocking a shot Wednesday against the Flames. He is battling for a spot on the bottom-two lines and the injury could hinder his chances of making the Opening Night roster in Edmonton on Oct. 9. Anderson-Dolan had a goal, three assists, 53 hits and 21 blocked shots in 30 regular-season appearances for LA in 2023-24 before he was claimed off waivers by Nashville in March of 2024, He played one game for the Predators and was held off the scoresheet.

Jets' David Gustafsson: Not playing Friday
Gustafsson (lower body) is unavailable for Friday's tilt in Calgary, Mike McIntyre of the Winnipeg Free Press reports.
Gustafsson was injured at the midway mark of the second period Wednesday versus Calgary. The 24-year-old played in 39 regular-season games with the Jets in 2023-24, scoring three goals and adding four assists. Gustafsson is in a battle for a spot on the fourth line. His status for Opening Night in Edmonton on Oct. 9 is in doubt at this time.

Jets' Jaret Anderson-Dolan: Injured blocking shot
Anderson-Dolan is dealing with an undisclosed injury after blocking a shot against Calgary on Wednesday, Scott Billeck of the Winnipeg Sun reports.
Anderson-Dolan is not expected to be sidelined long-term, but he is unlikely to jump right back into action versus the Flames on Friday. The winger is in a battle for a bottom-six role with the likes of Alex Iafallo and up-and-comers Brad Lambert and Nikita Chibrikov. If Anderson-Dolan's injury lingers, he could suddenly find himself hitting the waiver wire on his way to the minors.

Jets' Dominic Toninato: Placed on waivers Thursday
Toninato was put on waivers Thursday, according to Mitchell Clinton of the Jets' official site.
Toninato spent most of last season in the minors, picking up seven goals and 13 assists in 37 games with AHL Manitoba. He managed a goal and five points in 15 regular-season games with Winnipeg. He should spend the 2024-25 campaign with Manitoba, if he passes through waivers, but he should see some action at the NHL level.

Shaw was placed on waivers by the Jets on Thursday, Mitchell Clinton of the Jets' official site reports.
Shaw will be sent to AHL Manitoba if he passes through waivers. The 25-year-old inked a one-year, two-way contract with the Jets in the offseason. He had a goal and two assists in 20 regular-season games with Minnesota last year, missing most of the season recovering from a torn ACL. He should be among the early call-ups if Winnipeg runs into any injury problems up front.

Jets' Axel Jonsson-Fjallby: Waived by Winnipeg
Jonsson-Fjallby was placed on waivers by the Jets on Thursday with the intent to assign him to AHL Manitoba, Mitchell Clinton of the Jets' official site reports.
Jonsson-Fjallby made 26 regular-season appearances with Winnipeg last year, tallying two goals and five points while averaging 8:07 of ice time. He'll likely begin this year in the minors but could be called up as a depth option at some point.

Vilardi is coming off his best point-per-game season (36 points, including 22 goals, in 47 games) and is poised for a career season. Vilardi is poised for regular shifts beside star veterans Kyle Connor and Mark Scheifele, and that near point-per-game average could deliver 65-70 points if he can stay healthy. But he's never played more than 63 regular-season games in a season, so have a contingency plan.

Jets' Connor Hellebuyck: Game sharpening into focus
Hellebuyck made 17 saves in a 5-2 win over the Flames in preseason action on Wednesday.
Hellebuyck looked much better than he did Friday night when the wheels came off just 92 seconds into the game. He allowed the first puck past him that night and got the hook after allowing eight goals in 40 minutes of action. Hellebuyck and the Jets weren't too worried about that game, as they had plenty of non-regulars on the ice. They iced more regulars Wednesday, and the game reflected that. Hellebuyck is one of the league's best, and he should nail down a Vezina-quality season.

Jets' Nino Niederreiter: Double snipe night
Niederreiter scored twice in a 5-2 win over Calgary in preseason action on Wednesday.
The 32-year-old veteran of 887 NHL games is coming off an 18-goal, 34-point season in 2023-24 and is vying for a top-nine role on the Jets. Niederreiter's game is slowing, but he still has a scorer's hands and can be dangerous on the second power-play unit. Put him on your watch list in deep formats - he may be a helpful waiver grab if injuries strike.

Hellebuyck has reached the 60-game mark in each of the last three seasons, including posting 37 wins last year on his way to the Vezina Trophy. The 31-year-old backstop figures to be near the top of the list of the NHL games-played list at the end of the season, and he should be capable of challenging for the 40-win threshold.

Stanley will have knee surgery due to a meniscus issue after suffering a tweak during an off-ice pregame routine Wednesday, Mike McIntyre of the Winnipeg Free Press reports Friday. Stanley's expected to be out for at least four weeks.
Stanley had a goal, an assist, 36 PIM, 45 hits and 40 blocks in 25 regular-season outings with Winnipeg in 2023-24. He was in the mix for a third-pairing role for the upcoming campaign. With Ville Heinola (ankle surgery) also sidelined, Dylan Coghlan will likely begin 204-25 with Winnipeg, though he might spend a fair amount of time as a healthy scratch.

Jets' Connor Hellebuyck: Set for action Friday
Hellebuyck will be between the pipes for Friday's preseason contest against Minnesota, according to Mitchell Clinton of the Jets' official site.
Winnipeg's No. 1 netminder will start the game, but it's unclear how long Hellebuyck will play for. The two-time Vezina winner sported a record of 37-19-4 with a .921 save percentage and a 2.39 GAA in 60 regular-season appearances in 2023-24. Eric Comrie and Kaapo Kahkonen are expected to compete for the backup role behind Hellebuyck this season.

Jets' Ville Heinola: Undergoes surgery
Heinola, who has an ankle infection, underwent surgery, Scott Billeck of the Winnipeg Sun reports Thursday.
Heinola previously underwent ankle surgery last year and his infection is related to a screw from that operation, based on a report from Mike McIntyre of the Winnipeg Free Press last Friday. There's no timetable for Heinola's return, but McIntyre believes he'll be out for at least another month. The 23-year-old defenseman was originally in the mix for a spot on the Jets' Opening Night roster, but he might instead spend some time in the minors after he recovers.
